If you still have the chance, I suggest you to get a refund. No way you going to break-even. You can use the calculator here mining.thegenesisblock.com/
It´s already been shipped now and started mining yesterday. So well, it might be possible, might be a bit ugly ...
But since i paid like 1300$ for the 60GHs i still got a reasonable chance to break even. If the next difficulty increase is less than 20% pretty certainly, otherwise not quite ...

On the other hand i also have 16 "chip credits" for that order as well at BFL, at nominal discout of 25$ per credit that would theoreticly be 400$. Dunno if anyone actually buys those credits given the current saturation, but if anyone wants them at, say, 70% of nominal value, it would gladly part with them.

Edit: Didnt notice that difficulty increase from October 6th yet, meh, not likely to break even. Not unless a majority of the miners are very low quality and break down soon. Wink

Hi everyone,

just i thought about cancelling my pre-order for a rig it was actually shipped. Oh well, considering i still paid early bird prices (November 2012) it looks like it might actually still barely break even with my SC single 60GHs miner. Guess it would have been a lot better to buy BCs back then, but who would have guessed the spike back then. But geez, waiting nearly a year for a delivery really sucks.
But still, should still be able to break even more less, right? Note, started mining in a pool yesterday.

3% is better than some pools. Although there are lower. But, it depends on the amount of people contributing to the pools. Some big pools with a lot of users take up to 10% off, but that can be more beneficial sometimes as you have more income because of the amount of people.
Ok, so i guess it´s "good enough".
At least that one wasnt under a DDoS. The default pool in the EasyMinder tool BFL supplied at least seemed to under one shortly after i started mining (total pool hash rate varying rapidly, web site only available sporadicly). But "easy" my ass. I spent over an hour reading the READMEs to figure out to the correct command line arguments to manually connect EasyMiner to a different pool without loosing the asic support.
Luckily i am accustomed to reading READMEs and man pages ...

Try to overclock it. Some people overclocked it from 58 GH/s to over 63 Gh/s. That's an increase of 8.62%.
Use a different pool. Some pool offer low pool-fees, some other support merged mining.
Its running pretty much at rated speed (59.x GHs) and loud enough as is. I actually turned the thing off overnight for that reason (PC is in the room next to bed room), hmm, ~5$ or a good nights sleep ... i think i´ll take the later. Probably need to move the PC to a different room to solve that problem.
As for the pool, i pay 3% there, is that good, as in low? Decent? High?

You cannot stop the machine ever if you want to ROI. You must put it in a place with cheap (or free) electricity with no people sleeping next to it.

3% is high if no special features, it depend. see : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools
