Funnily enough i have just had a Ledger Nano S after using Electrum/Multibit/HD for years...I just transferred my BTC from Electrum to new Segwit Wallet...

MY ONLY concern is the new fork on 25th with BCG, i HOPE Segwit will give me free BCG ?? I have NOTHING in my Legacy wallet..

I chose Segwit for lower fee's etc..

Anyone know, Ledger have not announced anything yet !!!!

Thanks
HCP

NOTE: currently you cannot use Electrum + SegWit together... SegWit support is slated for version 3.0 which is currently in development/testing.

So if you wish to use Electrum as the software in conjunction with your Nano, you'll need to stick to "Legacy" wallets on your Nano for the moment.

Send your coins from your Electrum wallet to an address in your Ledger. "Syncing your wallets" is impossible, ill advised, and insecure.

Also, the Ledger asked me if I wanted to use Segwit or not.  I selected "I don't know".  What do?  I think that's a "yes", right?
You should use segwit so long as it gives you addresses beginning with a '3'. If it begins with 'bc1', then don't use segwit yet (the 'bc1' addresses are not supported by most wallet software yet).

You can also use Electrum as the software side instead of Ledger's Chrome app.

Very informative.  I will have to youtube the bolded about using Electrum as the software side.

I just got my first hardware wallet, a Ledger Nano S.  I have written down my recovery phrase and downloaded the Bitcoin wallet.  I currently have a Electrum Wallet on my PC with all my BTC on it.  Do I simply send my BTC from there to the receiving address through the Electrum Wallet and start using this BTC wallet address or is there a way to sync the wallets.

I just realized its probably incredibly stupid to sync the wallets (if thats even a thing) because it would defeat the whole purpose of a hardware wallet.  So I guess I just send to the new wallet address in the chrome app?

Also, the Ledger asked me if I wanted to use Segwit or not.  I selected "I don't know".  What do?  I think that's a "yes", right?

I'm sorry, I'm new to this.
