There are tons of guides posted online. Do some searches on Google.

Here's one of the first links I found when typing "Ethereum mining tutorial".

Hi ShallowTech,

Great questions. The people who have the best answers for you will more likely be hanging out in the Mining Support board. You can find it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=40.0

If you post the same question in the Mining Support board you'll not only get better, more detailed responses, but you'll also get more responses. It'll be more direct knowledge rather than hunches.

Good luck to you.

So questions. I am new to cryptocurrency but not to IT. I started doing some mining on my gaming PC and decided to invest in a second GPU to increase my mining. I am really doing it to get familiar with the process and to exchange/sit on some coins. I had some questions about the PCIe USB risers. It looks like they drop the x16 slot to x1, I assume this decrease in bandwidth does not impact the GPU calculations/mining in anyway, is this correct? What is a good manufacture to use if I wanted to pick up one of these risers? Does anyone make external GPU chassis with additional cooling/power?
