wow you guys must think we are huge cash cows bunch of fools to buy this , along with the story that "picasso plagarised so its totally ok".

the intentional deception, along with your behavior being called out on it, i would be surprised if you sell anything on this forum again.

Not sure what you mean.  We have both apologized for the single item.

We have hundreds and hundreds of designs, one issue where this has occured.

Seems people want to remember the one 'bad thing' rather than the 500 good things.  Odd.

your reputation is dogshit because of the way you handled this mess, thats what i mean.

Lot of integrity talk in your thread you scummed me in and then instalocked. Seems like locking threads/deleting things is your goto.

Usually a public company would make a statement about their partner's actions.. I see you have taken down the more blatant ripoffs but one of the examples has now made it's way to special metallic print.

...Locked the topic after I gave you the opportunity to reply.

Let's remember the original reason why you are angry.

You had a small issue with a panel, your direct quote.

You wanted a completely different panel to be sent for free, and you keep the original.

Kind of like me going to Target with my Xbox, saying it has a small ding, and then saying well, I'll keep the Xbox, just give me a PS4 instead, it's about the same price and shouldn't be any different.

Makes no sense.

Was happy to stand behind our products and issue you either a refund or a replacement of the same exact item.  You refused this.

I was just re-double-get-appropriating your art. Picasso did it to Einstein once so I thought it was okay. Lets get back on topic here though, this is a thread for laminated paper for $150.

I have no dog in this fight and truly don't care to, but those pics are scathing!!  As someone who appreciates art this is STEALING in my opinion!  I have bought a few things from LYNX and have not been disappointed, but I will be hesitant in the future.  .....and to be honest Frank, saying "I clearly state this is from HODL Crypto" is a BS cop out!!  Shame on you for not doing research on the art your company sells.  I'm glad I did not buy any of the blatant rip offs.  Taking peoples BTC/USD for another artists work, seriously, shame on you!

edit - you should AT LEAST have a disclaimer about the original art

Hi,

I'll take this opportunity to both apologize for mistakes I made and also speak to the latitude that artists have when making the use of other images in new works of art.

My apology - the lesson I've learned - if I want to use another image to create a new transformative image, and I want to use it to promote my work, I need to ask for permission and/or make clear citations. I also need to communicate this to commercial partners.

I have apologized to Frank for this, and I will apologize to anyone in the community here, or anywhere else, for this as well. If you're a customer of Lynx Collection, please note that I will not submit any future works for sale that re-appropriate existing images without permission or citations.

As for the use of other images - I created new, transformative images based on pre-existing images or ideas. This has been part of making art since people began making art and that's true whether it shatters anyone's ideals or not.

If Picasso's critics used search engines to put together the story of how he stole ideas from African artists, he would have had worse critics than Shepard Fairey shouting plagiarism. See this article for a similar analysis of Fairey's re-appropriated art: http://www.art-for-a-change.com/Obey/

Because I have studied Fairey's work extensively, I know very well how many of his works are re-appropriated. I still respect Fairey as an artist and very much continue to enjoy his artwork, because he sees something different in the images he uses and he creates something transformative with them. This is one of the main reasons I chose to create art pieces using some of his ideas, and others. I never have simply passed off someone else's work as mine. If you look at my art, you will notice that there is without a doubt an overwhelming majority of NEW ideas and imposed over the former ideas, which are used as a framework for the development of my own. The art takes on an entirely new meaning and this is what I want to communicate visually.

If you have a problem with my or my artwork I welcome you to address it with me. You can find me on instagram @hodlcrypto twitter @hodl_crypto and my email is [email protected]

This trend of producing limited editions on metal panels then later reproducing the same art on canvas, poster or metallic prints is disturbing. I don't have a screenshot but I seem to remember when I bought my metal panel "Digital Gold" the copy said only ten would be produced with no disclaimer that the right was reserved to also release the same art on other medium at a later date. This lowers the value to collectors. IMO work with more artists and produce however many copies of each release you need to keep the business running and make your profit but once you release artwork on one medium like the metal panels don't release again on any other medium. You should also thicken the aluminum panels to prevent warping even if the weight is increased to 6 pounds from 4 pounds. My two cents.

Understood.  Typically the listings state "only 10 to ever be produced on this medium."

I still think the works are very limited; 10 prints, 10 metal panels, 10 metallic prints.  Still only 30 in the world for 7 Billion people out there.

But moving forward, these items will not be on any other mediums (such as wood, glass, gloss panel, etc.).  Those are the only variants for those - print, metallic print, and metal.

Yes.  I have addressed this with HODL Crypto.  He was indeed barrowing some ideas from other artworks he had seen.  This was regarding Currency Independence.  It was not a copied piece of work, as he did modify it completely to be Bitcoin-related.  But he did draw inspiration from another piece from 'obey' I believe it was.

I have already spoken with him about the severity of these types of things and how it can affect the integrity of our company.  He has mentioned to us that all pieces going forward are his own designs.  this includes Digital Gold as well as Separation of Money And State.

Unfortunately these things can happen, especially when we are working directly with another artist.  It can be difficult to cross check everything.

But, as mentioined, this will not be an issue on any future pieces of his.

I am pleased to announce we have introduced tear resistant metallic prints for a handful of our Bitcoin artworks!

Many people were hoping for a more affordable option over our metal panel medium.

Do you have any information on the differences between the metallic prints and the metal panels?  I assumed the metal panels were metallic prints.

The metal panel is literally just that, an actual panel.  For those, the art is printed onto a 4 lb aluminum panel.

These are prints that offer a metallic finish to them.
