A very cool idea. And it's very necessary in this day and age. I'm surprised it's taken this long for something to come up.

You can already buy credits.

I see things in the opposite way, someone starting will want to use their bitcoins (not that hard to send a transaction with currently available desktop and mobile clients) and they will instead be requested to buy credits (with their Bitcoin or not) in order to use a bitcoin related service... It is a bit like those services for gift cards. You use Bitcoin to buy a gift card to buy something on a website or store... It's these kinds of "layers" we must eliminate in order to make it easy for people, and I think that't the best direction an app like this should follow. Blockchain services directly using Bitcoin, and not an extra "currency" or altcoin.

maybe an option for sending btc or to buy credits. i can see this being used by folks new to bitcoin and they would need an easy way to do it. they wouldnt know how to buy, store, send etc btc.

Why not simply have a free app and have users send enough Bitcoins to addresses generated by your app to have their files hash stamped on the blockchain? Much easier and convenient, I think, better than having a credit system which is kind of like a second currency... No service for iOS (that I know off) does this, and I think it would be the basic thing to have on an app like this.

Anyways, bonus points for you for being a timestamping app that can actually be understandable The last one I tried... Couldn't even use it.

We are a small Australian group who made this.
You get 20 free goes when you download it.
Only after that we ask for small $ (buy credits) to help recover our costs to date and pay towards the mining fees. Also if you upgrade to the Pro version, you can use it more too and more features.
We got some awesome feedback to date.The uses are basically endless and a lot of things are better proved in todays world.
Our Android version will be released in a few days. It was actually ready first, but the iOS app kind of overtook it. Just completing testing and it will be on the Google store.

Just tested the app... The app itself is free, but to do anything you have to buy "credits"

This is amazing, something that was really lacking... An easy way to prove a picture is real, definitely useful for everything that is on the press release. I'll definitely be testing this soon

Seems like a really good app. Why are all the good appointment ios only? They should release an android version and they would get a lot more users.

This is a good idea as its simplifies things for the end user, most likely after a image / video is created by the Uproov it's hash is unloaded to the blockchain with the end users being given a short reference to this entry and yes as you said if the picture / video is edited this changes the hash.

I am no blockchain guru but this seems like a fascinating use of blockchain technology that could really be of great service to a lot of people. For example, the traders here, where trust is king and being able to really PROVE something is gold.

I did a search here because I wanted to know more from those more experienced in how this cryptoographic proof stuff really works, but there is only 1 hit for "uproov".

What do you think?
Could this be a big help to many of the people here that conduct business?
I see a lot of "oh, that could just be photoshopped", or "take a picture with a piece of paper with your btctalk acct name and date written on it" etc. Maybe this could be of use for these types of situations?

It seems like it's automatically signing a bitcoin addy with your pic/vid file therefore it can later be authenticated just like a signed message or be void if even one pixel is changed just as if any single character in a signed message is changed it invalidates the whole thing..

I am also assuming this works on THE bitcoin blockchain, it seems they just say "the blockchain" so I really don't know..
