Join a pool. Solo is next to impossible now, especially with one GPU. I recommend Slush's pool, it's really easy to sign up and track your workers.

Hy everybody,
I'm very new in mining and I've not really understod the Bitcoin system.
I've a ASUS EAH 5770 Graphic card and I'm using it to mining. The GPU run at 850 MHz by default, but I'm scared to fuse the core so I'm using it at 600 MHz. Now with 99% load it works at 68°C

Now I'm installed Bitcoins official client, I tryed to have some bitcoins from bitcoins faucet and it worked. 0.02 Bitcoins were transfered.
I started to mining using GUIminer, the graphical interface of Poclbm. I've set bitcoin.conf like guides recommend and I started to mining.

Now it's working on 126,2 MHash/sec in "solo" and it has worked in two different turns in two days.
1° turn it done 300+ hashes at difficult 1 (how much is difficult 1? I' don't know, can I set it?)
2° turn it done 600 hashes at difficult 1

No bitcoins has arrived on my wallet. I know, it's a probability mining, i need also luck to do something.
But I'm really interested to understand how I can calculate my probability, or if the "solo" mining is the right choice.
How to get eventually in a pool. If now is still a good period to try mining.

I need some consult by someone expert, I'm not understanding everythings about bitcoins and mining.

Thanks everyone wants to help
