I am all new to the bitcoin world and  i would like to start mining. I know this isnt the gold rush anymore and that the good days are over but i am still interested in mining even if i dont make money out of it. To start off I would like to mine 0.1btc per week. I think this should be doable. But this is where i need help, I am not sure how much power i am gonna need to do it. I mean how many gh/s. I would then buy something appropriate.

I know computers cant really mine anymore but im gonna leave my specs anyway just in case.

Amd phenomII 965 deneb. Quadcore 3.4ghz
Nvidia geforce 650 ti boost superclocked.

So if anyone can help me calcukating the power i need! Thanks!

Since your new, I suggest buying Bitcoin directly and not fall into the mining game...

Yes, the Antminer S1 paired with a Corsair CX600m should be a good start for you.

It'll give you 180 GH/s at 360 W at stock clock.  If you want to overclock to 200 GH/s, you'd need to add a case fan to provide adequate cooling using "push pull" effect.

Any tips on choosing an a miner?

Not much as I have stopped mining for months.
My only advice is to avoid all pre-orders. Smiley

Thanks for the calculator links. And this is much more power needed than i expected. I checked ebay a bit and the best deal i found is a used 200ghs for 300$. Thats about 2 months to pay the miner without counting electricity and difficulty increase haha! I might try it aswell for fun! Any tips on choosing an a miner ?

Also try this calculator.
http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

Plug in various numbers and see what you need.

And this:

To get 0.1 btc per week (0.014285 a day) at this moment, you need to have about 227GH/s.
You can check a profit calculator, for example https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator, to know how many bitcoin the hashrate / hardware will generate for you.
But as difficulty going up every 2016 blocks (around 13 days), your mining revenue will go down.
So you will need more and more hashrate every 13 days if you want to keep getting 0.1 btc per week.
