I did a quick check for you and on the bitmain site it says the D3 pulls about 1200W, so that would explain the 24 amps per circuit with 4. 1200/208=5.769 *4= 23.07 close enough

I'm no electrician but that is a long run of wire and when in doubt it is a good idea to go overboard on your safety factor; especially with equipment that runs full out 24/7

Did you have an electrician wire up the space for you? if not might be a good idea to have one come in and give you some guidelines, or even your utility company. This is much larger than anything I've dealt with.

Side note, your post would be better placed in the ALT COIN section, as it doesn't deal with bitcoin miners.

Kind of a grey area what with it being more of an electrical wiring question.

Hi Everyone,

I have set up 24 Miners (22xD3s, 2xL3s) in a very large warehouse with high ceilings.

I have run 6 x 208 v 30 Amp circuits- unfortunately the Circuit Breaker panel is about 50 Feet from where the miners are. 10 AWG wire was used in a steel conduit to each of the L6-30R receptacles.

The power supplies are rated for 2600w each and each support up to 2 miners (L3 or D3) - The PSU's are BITMAIN - APW5
I took some readings on the circuits

1 - 2xL3, 2xD3 = 20 AMPS
2 - 4 x D3        = 24 AMPS
3 - 4 x D3        = 24 AMPS
4 - 4 x D3        = 24 AMPS
5 - 4 x D3        = 24 AMPS
6 - 4 x D3        = 24 AMPS

When I crunched the numbers the higher amp circuits should of been under 19/20 amps- 24 was kind of surprising (D3's pull about 950 watts at 208v) I thought I would be able to get  another L3 on each circuit without going over 80% (24 AMPs) on the 30 AMP circuits
but alas the reading say no.

The steel conduit the wires run though is warm to the tough and the circuit breakers on the panel are kinda warm also (more than warm but not burning hot)
Because the panel was large I separated the breakers with spacers instead of having them all stacked (to let the breath a little between) but that didn't help much.

I know that running 8 AWG wire will reduce resistance and should help with the heat and voltage loss due to the long runs...will I get some AMPs back ?
Also will the miners runs cooler if I use 8 AWG over the existing 10 ? (some of the miner temperatures are scary but I am not sure I believe the numbers are correct on the D3s)-  Can I just run 6 AWG instead (to be safe with the heat and fire hazard) or will I need to swap out the circuit breaker for this.

I realize lower gauge wire is more expensive but I am not concerned about that. Reducing heat, risk of fire and prolonging the life of my miners is more important (and more efficient hashing with lower heat)

Any advice is appreciated.
