this is kinda old, they were trying to use that in germany but it wasnt accepted by law.
you can just open your window and other stuff so that the device wont get a correct result.
I think the main point of it is to be a subjective element of obtaining searching/arresting powers when there clearly are none. Just like the canine search, which can be triggered to make a positive hit when the dog doesn't smell anything to begin with.

Well that looks kinda stupid from every aspect. Let aside how bad something like this is, there would be so many false positives that it would have no meaning since you cant stop every car all the time. In fact civilians should start spraying alcohol every now and then making even more false positives.

i found a method to avoid getting detected, just fart when you see them lasering.  Grin

If it doesn't detect anything in the car they can always swipe it around the gas tank for a 'hit' and there's their reasonable suspicion indicator for a search or pulling you outta the car. This is going overboard.

There are thousands of cameras watching your every move in major cities all over America and you're worried about alcohol sniffing lasers? With the advancements in facial recognition software, I'm not worried about driving, I'm worried about walking down the street!
