Looks like I made the correct decision to move to p2pool  Roll Eyes

it's funny isn't it, all it takes is a few quick blocks and the hoppers jump in, glad we were mining p2pool prior to today to make sure we got fully ramped in  Grin

btw: where do you rent those hashes? Can one rent hashes for a month or so?

I use betarigs or leaserig but rental tomes are short and a lot of them are very overpriced.
It's mostly a matter of catching a cheap rent and trying to extend it for duration needed

updated minimum payout sums in OP - NOMP restarted to populate new numbers

note: the last of the maintenance has been complete, there will be no more restarts until new coins are added (we don't envisage adding any more in the near future)

I may be reading it wrong, being that NOMP is largely unfinished in github. However, I *believe* that you can add a new coin using nomp-cli without restarting the pools.

nope, it needs restarting to add/remove coins

I do the same thing for non asic coins : )

it's a good method i've found it to be quite profitable - the only issue is that I need to keep putting mined BTC back into rentals so it takes a while to build that profit. If you are mining scrypt alts, we have Bottlecaps and Hobonickels on the pool too, i'm hashing my small (an understatement!) scrypt rigs on them now.

How much power do you own with all rigs?

I try to hold rentals up to ~30TH/s - these are normally split between pools for variance. So - it's not constant hashpower as I sometimes miss a rental or two. I had been watching jedimstr and how he mines p2pool with mostly rentals and having tried it for myself, it seems to work out profitable - and saves having to find colo for that much hashpower.

Hehe.

Cheesy nobody said it was going to be easy - with my home rig (4.5TH/s) calc says ~6months for a block mining solo
If I put all of my hashpower on at once, nobody would join, due to PROP payouts meaning i'd get pretty much the whole block for myself, so...

here we go, slow and easy  Cool

Please do not mine on the Cavern when any one miner has more than 51% of the BTC Cavern 3035 pool.

I just pointed a miner there now for the fun of it (took it away from your TEK pool though - sorry). I'm a bit confused. It looks like there are only two of us mining BTC there atm. How can you deal with 51% issues in these early stages?

I have anything up to 28TH/s to run on the pool (graphical history doesn't show) I currently have only 1 rig pointed there. hopefully miners will be able to ease in and there can be some form of equality between hashrates of users. If not, then the best plan of action is for everyone to bail and leave the big rigs mining solo  Grin we have alerts set up to show on the site if this happens.

Press release (UK sent)

www.centralcavern.uk
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/new-prizes-central-cavern-mining-co-multiple-btc-pools-688545

The newest BTC mining pool on the scene has taken on the much-scorned-upon PROP payout system. Russell Sneddon (marketing) says that this is to encourage miners to hop across the “Cavern” mining alt coins and Bitcoin - PROP will keep your value of shares held, allowing you to hop around and mine Central Cavern Mining Co signature coins like SHA256 Guinea and Sovereign Scrypt CROWN as well as TEK, HOBONICKELS and BOTTLECAPS. The Cavern also has P2Pool nodes to allow miners in the further reaches of the world to hash happily away knowing that they are part of a larger pool, if they so wish.

Using an unfinished NOMP multi-coin pool portal on many local and virtual servers, with a solid local firewall as well as cloudflare technology, Spyros Ioakim is the Pool Developer for Central Cavern Mining Co and the brains behind the organisation;

Currently, Central Cavern are giving away launch prizes in Bitcoin to encourage miners to join. Check out their signature coins, hop around the Caverns with your bitcoin miners.
Advisory: the Central Cavern 3035 pool requires equal sizes of mining workers, due to the prop payout system. Please do not mine on the Cavern when any one miner has more than 51% of the BTC Cavern 3035 pool.

TheScribe(Europe) are currently looking for investors to build their own bitcoin mining farm. Interested investors please email [email protected] for more info

thanks.
