I'd say the LEPA 1600 would be cutting it close.  It might work, but for how long I don't know.  I know guys that use that psu to power a whole rig with 6 7950s, but that's around 1400 watts.

I like to leave 15% breathing room.  So for you that would be 1725watts.  I would get dual 950's for that setup, personally.

Ok. But ow would be the load distribution? 2 5979 with mobo on one and one 5970 and 6990 from other ?

I'm running 3x5970 and one 1x5830 on the same motherboard.
PSU is 1200W.

If I mine BTC it shows 1300W at the wall with all the cards, once I switched to scrypt mining, computer went off as there was not enough power. So, I end up putting another 620W PSU next to 1200W.

Right now 1200W PSU measures 1230 (with 3 5970 cards+motherboard) at the wall and 620W measures 170 at the wall doing scrypt mining.

Motherboard is MSI 77GD65 with I3 CPU.

So, I say you need a at least 1500W for your setup or even get 1600W, or get 2 PSUs.

Thanks

Are u using add2psu kinda thing?

well the subject says it all. Have few questions....

How much power rig with 3 5970 and 1 6990 will need for LTC and BTC mining?. I am assuming LTC takes more.

As per my reading 5970 takes around 300w and 6990 around 400w at top load.

So this means 1300 w with 200 w for Mobo etc. should a 1600w LEPA would do ?

Also i read, card take around 75w from mobo so does that means its 375 for a single 5970 or this is included in the 300w?

And last, is there any other option better than LEPA 1600w in its price(http://www.amazon.com/LEPA-1600-Watts-Crossfire-Certified-G1600-MA/dp/B007W5TV6K/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371839485&sr=1-1&keywords=lepa+1600w). I know i can connect two with add2psu but dont wanna go into that hassle.

thanks all...
