Those GPUs look really very close together - what kind of cooling options were you looking into?

nice setup, i was thinking about doing this same thing, but then it seems like the other hardware is relatively inexpensive.  i rather have 2 machines running instead of just 1 in case there are issues.  like the power supply decides to fry and takes ur whole system out.

i'm just paranoid i suppose.

Hi Makbot,
I'm trying to have the most energy efficient rig. So running 2 setup with 2 CPU/MB/SSD for the same Hash is not good for me.
The frame posted above manages 6 GPU per MB, or 24 total with 4 PSU total.
I have some concerns but this is why I opted for the LEPA power supply.

I'm drooling... but afraid I don't have any suggestions re. your MB question.

I'm curious, though, what's driving your MB format constraint?  What do you intend to mount this stuff in?   and what are your plans for cooling?

Hi dfs59,

It will go in this:

And the limitation is the ATX format. Note that I would not have spent $500 to get the EATX MB with  6 PCI-E 16X port.

No suggestions?
Would the people who have 6 GPU on 1 motherboard running post their configuration on this thread?

Good morning everybody,

I'm putting a setup together that will require a motherboard that would handle 6 GPU. Here is what I have come up with so far:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128509)
PSU: LEPA G 1600W 80GOLD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817494006)Item=N82E16817194105[/url])
Memory: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345)
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz* (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6300WMHKBOX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286)
HDD: ADATA Premier Pro SP900 ASP900S3-64GM-C 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211601)
GPU: SAPPHIRE 100352-3L Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026)
Other:
- Molex 12V to 6 Pins adaptor (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-6110019900G-PCI-Express-12V-Power-Adapter-Cable-RoHS-NEW-/180953234729#vi-content)
- PCI-Express 16X to PCI-E 16X Riser (http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-pcs-PCI-Express-PCI-E-16X-Riser-Card-Ribbon-Extender-Extension-Cable-/280845243816?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4163ae55a8)
- PCI-E PCI Express x1 To x16 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-PCI-E-PCI-Express-x1-To-x16-Adapter-Extender-Cable-Riser-Card-/261205674082?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd1124862)

My only limitation is the motherboard format: ATX (no EATX).

I read that some people were able to have 6 video cards running on the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5, others were having problems. What are the alternatives that have been tested and are working?
I did see this, which could be helpful if I knew what the set up was like: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1969842

I would have post on the "hardware" section but I'm new so I can't...

Thank you in advance for all of your help.
