We don't know if the hacker is genuine, but we (BitInstant) are sincere when we say we'll waive any commission to help Romney get some coins Smiley

Here's our forum post announcing this: http://blog.bitinstant.com/blog/2012/9/6/a-friendly-offer-for-mitt-romney.html

A great opportunity to play a little pump & dump if you ask me.  Tongue

Romney could buy $2 million dollars of bitcoin and after he gets elected allow the IRS to take it for taxes  Cheesy

I was talking about a realistic scenario, several things about how the world of politics and power work make this very unlikely. It is fun to speculate about it though... (Well 1000 is the square root of 1000000 after all)

Theres a politician in New Hampshire who accepts bitcoin donations so its not too outlandish.

I should have known you'd bring that up... you'd agree this is a whole different level? Like the moon vs alpha centauri or something..  Smiley

I was talking about a realistic scenario, where things are done behind closed curtains, if any. Several things about how the world of politics and power work make this very unlikely. It is fun to speculate about it though... (Well 1000 is the square root of 1000000 after all)

Bitinstant just made a great PR stunt, I'd love to see any acknowledgement from the romney camp or the obama camp, that would be amazing news.

It was not clear already, that the bitcoins extortion is false? and that the part of bitcoins is a smart guy who used the original hack make money.
