The community has already discussed with the devs on opening other channels for the airdrop as well and he is open to it. But the current focus is on bitcointalk because most of the crypto world hangs out here. No other reason. Community members have also started working on a marketplace program where members can get airdrops for constructive tasks. As mentioned above, a mechanism has already been put in place to report and slowly remove irrelevant topics from the AI database when making suggestions to improve post quality and topic relevance.

This is a great instance of the good actors of the community helping to eliminate the malicious ones. Kudos for that.

I've reported a good amount of these shill posts from MarineCoin, and I'll continue to do so, but I really do hope that you find a solution that won't encourage spam and shitposts. Sounds like you have something in the works; I just hope it's relatively soon as my fear is that future ICO's will see this as an example of all the shit they can get away with for future campaigns. That's the last thing we need here... A dozen altcoins with hundreds or thousands of users trying to qualify for an airdrop by flooding bitcointalk.

Nope.

First off, nobody is saying that this is not a legitimate project.  Second off, the math error made by LogitechMouse does not really take away from the point made and calling names is childish.

The issue is that there was/is a preponderance of shill posts that did not make much sense and were copy/paste posts which you claim should get better with time in your point 3 above.  An AI posting assistant is just silly (IMHO) so that people can get their airdop coins.  The merit system was built to discourage posts like these.  The accounts are getting banned because they add absolutely no value at all to the topic in which they post them.

I admire the idea of trying to discourage whales from owning large quantities of the coin, but the main point of the post was not to bad-mouth the coin or its devs or its community members.  It was simply to point out the shill posts.

I said myself in the OP that 'This coin may not even be the only one doing this.  I just haven't noticed any others.'  The fact that your coin's posts stood out to multiple different people as being shill posts says something.  I'm sure your coin is not the only one and I'm sorry if your account(s) were banned for your posts.  Established accounts were not included in my OP to be considered as stated 'I know I am not alone when I say that I am sick of the Brand New/Newbie accounts being created simply to post once or twice in various threads about Marinecoin.'

Again, I hope you can understand my points and realize that I was not directly attacking established members or the project as a whole.  It was simply about the posts.

As I already said, I apologise for calling names. I got angry because there is a major difference between trillion and billion and a 450 trillion coin supply makes it look like a bad joke. Yes, many of the airdrop seekers were completely irresponsible when choosing topics. A mechanism has already been put in place to report and slowly remove these topics from the AI database when making suggestions to improve post quality and topic relevance. The AI was introduced because some airdrop seekers were making bad quality posts to get the 450k coins in Phase I. Any project needs some amount of promotion to succeed, you'll agree. It just happens that Marinecoin devs chose this form of promotion to be the best.

Well this is just silly. All it does is give people a negative perception of your coin because they see it being spammed everywhere by shills. If you want to promote it then do it in other ways or at least reward people for doing something constructive as opposed to just signing up to make an off topic post or thread in the wrong section.

1) The Marinecoin project has a coin distribution model which is free and fair. 95% of total supply (10 Bn) will be distributed to airdrop claimers through a proof of promotion bounty. Currently this promotion is restricted to Bitcointalk posts.

I hate those newbies posting for that shitty marinecoin claiming that they will earn 450,000 coins. They are very annoying I hope some admins do something to stop this shitty airdrop. 450,000 coins just for airdrop and per person? LOOLL. Imagine that 1,000,000 people joined in this fucking airdrop, so they will distribute a total of 450 TRILLION coins and that is just for airdrop only. What about the token sale? The coin for the devs. This marinecoin is pure BULLSHIT!!!!!
I am writing this at the risk of restarting a forgotten thread shitposting about a legitimate project. But this level of ignorance is just too much for me to tolerate.

Firstly, let's not get carried away with numbers just because you have a calculator. And a faulty one at that. 1 million * 450k = 450 Bn and not 450 Tn you dinkus.

Secondly, total MTC circulation is capped at 10 Bn and a time dilution approach to airdrop is being adopted whereby airdrop payoff will slowly reduce over time. This is similar to mining payoffs reducing with time with increase in mathematical complexity. MTC devs discourage mining and have designed the system such that miners can't get enough MTC. You can try to mine and find out if you want to verify this.

The thread author says he/she did not even care to research Marinecoin. But did have the time and energy to write to mods against it and badmouth the project.

So, let me put out a few points in the hope that I can change your minds:

1) The Marinecoin project has a coin distribution model which is free and fair. 95% of total supply (10 Bn) will be distributed to airdrop claimers through a proof of promotion bounty. Currently this promotion is restricted to Bitcointalk posts. The reason for this distribution model is to have a large and distributed community and prevent hoarding by few. The dev will retain 1% of coins for, in his/her own words, "my family"

2) The Project is almost entirely community-run (except for the core dev). Volunteers from the community moderate forums and channels. They create DApps on the platform. In the initial phase of ICO (Phase I) where 450,000 coins were being distributed to airdrop seekers, volunteers were also filtering the applications to weed out double dippers. But the scamming went so much out of hand that the dev created an AI engine to help with the ICO (Phase II) where 20,000 coins are being rewarded to airdrop hunters. People can claim 20k coins every 24 hours by making a promotional post.

3) The AI engine is like a BCT message posting assistant that helps people write informative messages about the project (Phase I had many non-informative posts that looked like pure spam). Some of its grammar and sentence construction is currently out of place. But like a deep learning AI it is improving with every passing day to provide better suggestions. Since, posts are not allowed to deviate too much from the original suggestions, many people just post what the AI told them to. Hence the messages seem spammy. For now. However, it will not seem like this for long.

In light of this, many of our community members had their accounts banned and messages deleted. I am pretty certain that most people did nothing to find out why so many messages about Marinecoin was around and that too by Newbie Accounts. People simply assumed it was spam/bots/scam etc. and reported the messages. Some of us tried to appeal through mail to the mods but got no replies. So we were forced to let go of our original accounts and create new ones for posting. If you ever get your account banned for no apparent fault, you will get how it feels. Please understand it's a legitimate effort to promote a good project. Nothing more, nothing less.

And yes, I did get my 450,000 coins in Phase I and continue to get 20,000 coins everyday in Phase II. But some of your jealous friends got my account banned. So I was compelled to come back with a new Account. I have had my say and I am content now. I am sorry for calling you a dinkus but shitposting makes me angry. You can PM me if you want to know more about the project. I am a community member too who fell in love with the lightning fast speeds of transaction, zero transaction fees and no mining support. If you want to test any of this, I'll send over 10 MTC to your Marinecoin wallet. I am not the dev. But if you feel offended about my post, go ahead. Get this Account banned as well if that makes you feel good.

The thing is, a coin (or anything) is only as valuable is it's rarity compared to how many people want it. If everyone owned 1 million dollars, it wouldn't be worth anything.

All these newbies trying to get the marinecoin airdrop are just going to immediately sell and the price will be worth close to nothing a few days after its release.

I mean, if everyone has the damn coin and nobody want's it, it can't be worth that much.

I'll be honest when I say that I haven't stumbled across this airdrop but I assume it's a problem if newbies are accepted. Isn't that against the forum rules?

I myself saw those spams, I mean you can't really ban people for opening new accounts and spamming on every corner sadly. Because even if you IP ban them, well there are a lot of ways to bypass that. At least we could have some bot that will check same posts done by the same people and thus auto ban them or something? Cuz every post I saw was basically copy paste from one to another and spam in the same thread so as you scroll to read comments you will see his advertisement.

You can find multiple spams in this theard: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/i-hold-this-post-your-holding-coins-2924717

The problem with automated bots are that they bring up a lot of false positives, and there's no easy way around this. Some bots are effective and I believe Mitchell was using a bot to deal with certain members. Just keep on reporting these accounts that are copying and pasting and they'll get dealt with.

Good point.  I imagine there is no easy answer and I will indeed continue to report the suspected accounts.

I sent a PM to the mod of the altcoin forum, but I imagine they likely get a ton of PMs and this would get more views from the masses.

I know I am not alone when I say that I am sick of the Brand New/Newbie accounts being created simply to post once or twice in various threads about Marinecoin.  It's always the same posts and there isn't much substance to them.

I have not done any research on Marinecoin, but I am fairly certain they are using some dirty tactics to self-promote.  This coin may not even be the only one doing this.  I just haven't noticed any others.

I dunno if the bots are being manually registered or they are somehow able to register themselves requiring a forum update.  Of course, it could just be the same person creating all of the accounts and posting it all manually.

I just wanted to get this message out there.
