Hello,

I'm sorry I didn't read this thread before now. Carsen and georgem thank you very much for your kind words, I'm glad you like it!

georgem, I have implemented https a few weeks ago, the site is encrypted once you've logged in.

Today I introduced a new Trade Domains section where users can buy and sell domains, I hope it will be useful.

I don't think namecoin will ever be used in global dns. there are not many users at all.

I don't think Bitcoin will be used as a currency. there are not many users at all.  Roll Eyes

Hello dotbitme,

I like the site you created and wish you good luck with it.

I would love to see you use https and also a tutorial for newbies,
that will help the cause and spread *.bit

We must make it easy for noobs and newcomers to register
and host a *.bit site.

Cheers

Awesome site! Smiley I will be most likely transferring some of my names to you. I am hoping OpenDNS may gain interest in Namecoins and DNS to support .bit domains, someone from namecoin should contact them in regard to that.

Hi vitalemontea,

It is not recognised today but might be in the future. And even if it is not, it does serve a similar purpose for domain names as bitcoin does for currency. The p2p nature of the system ensures that no one state or company can control access to your domains.

Now, by using a service like mine you're actually putting your trust in a company, namely dotbit.me. What you gain is simplicity. The manual way to register domains via namecoind is described here:

What's the point if it's not recognized by global DNS?

Hi,

I've been working for a few months on a little project of mine called dotbit.me. It's a simple registrar for .bit domains (using the bitcoin-derived namecoin) and I hope it will prove useful. Features include payments in both namecoin and bitcoin, free domain transfers in or out and free coin transfers in or out.

If you already have a .bit domain, transferring it to and from dotbit.me is free!

Please note: I would still rate it as in a "beta" stage even though it has a few paying users and have been running smoothly for three months.

Thank you for your time!
