I thought they were getting paid based on number of votes - not views?

Yes, they get paid with upvotes and not views, but spreading your word out on other platforms—if your content is not recognized in Steemit—is one way to garner upvotes too, so the incentivized posting is still there. Posts that redirect to Steemit don't have any significance on this forum except that they just add up to the clutter and noise this forum already has.

Yeah, it's annoying. Report them and the posts will be removed and users banned if they persist.

Breaking one of the (unofficial) rules asks for one's ban. It's an incetivized post, though being indirect. A ban of 7 days for the first offense should be implemented since it's spam no matter how you look at it. Also, reporting 2 posts under 3 minutes is a new record for me.

Steemit is such a spam platform now. They should do something about it.

To be honest this forum has the same problem but with signature campaigns. Once you monetize something people quickly abuse it by spamming.

I wrote a couple of articles on steemit but unfortunately it didn't get any attention Sad

It does seem like a place with a lot of low quality content and a lot of spam.
But you can't expect much when you give a blog to anyone with a keyboard..

I wonder if anyone noticed the recent influx of posts that redirect to steemit in order to get views. I'm not against the platform nor against the posters but seriously, creating a click-bait topic and reading the OP without any useful information is annoying. Just recently there were two posts with a click-bait title, only to read the line click here to view the full post which really pissed me off.

To those users who do such things, try to create an impressive content and maybe, just maybe, you wouldn't resort into click-bait tactics.
