I do not think that there is one to be honest. If folks continue to buy cards and use them for Litecoin mining at the current rate then I do not think that any of them will see a positive return on the price of the card. As long as AMD GPUs continue to be snapped up as soon as they reach the shops, I expect that the card manufacturers will churn out product as fast as they can and we will just see more and more GPUs getting lower and lower returns.

Of course, it you have another need for a card (gaming) then buy one good card and mine with it for a few months to pay for a part of the cost and then you still have a card for games or whatever.

Do you think that you will see a positive return on that investment?

Litecoin difficulty is going up by three times each month at the moment.

That seems unlikely to slow down over the next couple of months as the mining population is boosted by huge numbers of naive new entrants.

Do the math for the returns that you will get and it does not look good.

If the hash rate growth continues, your proposed setup will make you a bit over three hundred dollars between now and the end of January. It will make you sixty dollars in February which will work out as a net return of almost nothing if you are paying for electricity. Even if growth slows to near zero after that, you will see little more profit unless you have free electricity.

I'm pretty sure those prices are normal. Even before teh insane purchasing amounts, the prices for the 290's and such were $400. I remember when the 6970's came out, I paid $300 each.

But there are many cards there with prices around $150.
