I was just thinking the same thing. Can you sticky Theymos' announcement topic (or make a new Merit discussion topic and sticky it)?
I think it's crap. I have seen plenty of good posts and the authors still have received a whopping 0 merit from the day this started. I have also seen other posts which were trash and they got merit probably from asking their friends to do it or whatever. Terrible system.
