What security reasons are you talking about? My PC has never been compromised since I've been using Nicehash, the only thing I don't like about Nicehash is you get low payout for your hashrate compare to other standalone ETH pools out there, it's why I quit using Nicehash unless my calculator shows that Nicehash is the most profitable pool right now

would a vpn be considered a form of network segmentation

I would say the opposite, a VPN un-segments networks by joining them together virtually.

I didn't neccessarilly mean segmentation when I mentioned network seperation. I just mean mining and private stuff
on seperate network nodes which allows firewalling between them. A network firewall (ie a router) would
effecitively create segmentation but you can also use a host firewall on the same segment.

how about if i have a hardware wallet connected to that pc, and have mining run on a underprivileged user. Or just remove any wallets from that pc and run them somewhere else like on my phone

thanks

Not the phone, that opens up another can of worms.

Removing the HW wallet while not using it is always a good idea.

User priviledge seperation is good. Network firewall seperation is better, Physical seperation is best.
It comes down to your risk tolerance and your instincts. Do you have good malware radar? Have you done
any research about the software you intend to use?

As long as you undertsand the risks and take measures to mitigate them you should be ok. But false confidence
can be dangerous.

If security is a concern you already popped that cherry by running Nicehash software.

Security is an issue with mining software for one very important reason. Legitimate mining
software is often flagged as malware. Miners know this and create exceptions for mining software.
Scammers know this and use mining software as a decoy for real malware.

Stick with well known and well respected software from developpers with a reputation. Avoid anything
with outrageous claims, or from newbies with no history.

You should also avoid mining on an important PC, like the one with your wallet. At a minimum use a seperate
unpriviledged user for mining and avoid any mining software that requires root/admin.

And also why pay to nicehash 2-3% for this crab job. BTC withdraw fees sometimes high you will lose there too. Sometimes to withdraw 0.002BTC you will pay 8-10$

I have many years experience with nicehash. Luckily i did not lost any money in nicehash in 2017 when they said they been hacked and all miners lost money. it was stolen when it hipe then they paid back during 3 years when BTC was 3.5k-7k. Second thing they tried to destroy phoenixminer. And now thease days i lost there 0.65LTC = 146$ todays currency. i did withdraw and it is pending for 3.5days. I understood that when this happens no one is going to help you. you are on your own. I send to support many mails they just copy paste same answer:
Hello!

Thank you for your inquiry.

There are currently some issues with LTC and withdrawals have been disabled.

We are working on a solution.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Best regards,
NiceHash Team

This message every time. They did not notify or nothing. to get this answer i waited more than 24 hours for them answer.
You have rtx 3090 download from developer t-rex or phoenix miner and get ethermine.org pool. They pay 100% no problem at all. Also open in binance account it supports many coins.
It is easy to set bat file you will do it in 1 minute. After you create account in binance or wherever you like to make account then jsut make bat file with your wallet address and copy pool addres thats all you need to mine.

hello,

i was looking to get some feedback, i am new to mining and recently upgraded my gpu on my gaming rig to a Evga FTW 3090 and have been using nicehash for the ease of use i am considering switching to a miner like trex miner after hearing some chummy stuff regarding leadership in nicehash. that being said is running a miner on a personal computer, my only pc, a security risk for my personal data and is trex miner good mining software for the 3090? how have your experiences been with nicehash vs other mining software?
pardon my ignorance
