Hello everyone. I am fairly new to the bitcoin game. I used to be heavily into computers back in the late 90s, early 2000s. Overclocked my parents Athlon K6, and then later built my first computer using an Athlon XP setup during the XP/ P4 wars aha. I saw an article on Bitcoin that caught my attention, so I decided to get my ass back into computers and bought me some hardware and put 2 machines together.
I now have 4 7950s running and hashing away between 2 computers
.
I have found alot of information through posts and topics on these forums, so I appreciate everyone who helps out! It helps many more than just the people who post.
I did recently have a weird issue with my 2nd computer that just runs a single 7950 through a 1x slot using a 1x to 16x pci riser cable.
The card is about 2 days old, and I have been running with a slight over clock [ nothing crazy, just about 1100mhz core, stock memory clock through CCC ] no voltage mods or going past CCC limits using afterburner or anything like that .
At idle or no load at the desktop the screen gets fuzzy and "wavy" . Its hard to describe what exactly it does, but its not right. Weird thing is, once i put the card under load using cgminer to mine, the desktop waviness / fuzziness slowly goes away over the course of about 30 seconds and the desktop is perfectly normal. As soon as I close cgminer and it idles down, the fuzziness and waves slowly come back over 10-30 second period. It stays messed up until it is put under load again.
The hash rates are good, around 580-600mHash, and the temps are around 61-65 c. Card has never gone above 70c before.
Any ideas, or does it sound like it should be RMA'd? Its a brand new card.
