Hey guys I'm new to this whole bit coin thing and just have a question or two. Is my computer good enough to mine just off if it? Or should I look into buying an Avalon product. Link to my specs. http://gyazo.com/95fb4fcd6c95007fd353694025f51b87 Also have a Nvidia GTX 760. Any other tips pr tricks would help. Thank You Grin

once again first question is what does power cost you.

here is a piece of gear on ebay it is an antminer s-3

it is 115 free shipping it needs a decent psu  this psu  runs 3 of them

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425311433&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300

so if you have cheap power the above can make some money.  if you power is not cheap you will most likely lose money.  by cheap under 8 cents a kwatt

With all possible PC things you can mine darkcoin (DRK), monero (XMR) or other GPU/CPU-oriented forks. Please don't ask me about how much you will earn on that or another coin...  Grin BTC mining on non-(top)ATI GPUs is completely meaningless these days... But anyway you can find a block in SOLO.  Cheesy

You should wait for the announcement of next-generation ASIC miner by Bitmain: https://bitmaintech.com/product.htm. It's not available yet. Or buy cheap used Bitmain Antminer S2 and then wait when the S2 upgrade kit will be available for purchasing. It should be available in nearest future as thay said... Or just buy (used) S5 from resellers of forum members.

No.

Or should I look into buying an Avalon product.

Unless you have access to cheap electricity and have a source to the the equipment inexpensively, you are unlikely to do much better through mining than you would if you simply spent the same amount of money to buy the bitcoins at market prices.  If you are interested in mining as a hobby, and don't mind the fact that you will be getting less bitcoins from mining than you could through other methods, then you'll want to look into purchasing an ASIC product.

Any other tips pr tricks would help. Thank You Grin

Tip: Mining is fine as a hobby if it's something you enjoy doing.  Unless you have special circumstances, you'll likely generate less bitcoins per dollar spent on mining than you would be able to purchase with those same dollars.
