PoS is much better than PoW, but it has problems with centralization and inflation (if PoS % is high).

P.S. EDIT: Though I wouldn't say that centralization is a real problem, because decentralization is a dream. Wink

What's there to like about Auroracoin? Haven't watched the entire video, because it sounds like 20+ minutes of your personal thoughts and (no offense) I feel no need to watch it all.

I think Auroracoin showed us that currencies that distribute free samples to lots of people in a verified way, and try to grab a certain community like a nation in this case (Iceland), may be a big hit.

It has proven the opposite. Auroracoin is not a big hit and it is proven that these giveaways can be gamed and cheated with or without the development team's involvement. The only coins that has proven to have "value" are POW coins. The best example of this will always be bitcoin.

Open your eyes to see many POS coins in the top 30, sure Bitcoin and POW valued much higher but they are losing market share steadily.

But agree that giveaways and free samples can be gamed and cheated. It's a challenge how to get that right so that the currency profits overall instead of losses.

Innovations on that front however, is the opportunity today.

A much bigger one than sticking with Bitcoin, I think. Network effect is overrated in digital currencies that are exchanged with a mouse click.

Thats part of the distribution plan for Postbase, a portion of the coins are allocated to be given out in small amounts to users of other social platforms. I think it's a good strategy to bring in a large number of new users.

Good idea mate! Smiley

Yes I do, I don't know why it became a total bust later on, I'm only analyzing why it was a big hit when it entered the crypto scene, often there are good reasons for it, and I think there were here as well.

It was a big hit, because it was the first  "country's cryptocurrency". But their model of "mass adoption" was far from perfect (or to be given as an example).

A big hit to who? To those who created them? Smiley You do realize that AUR was the first $1Bn market cap (since you are often referring to market caps) and lost like 5000% of its value in a month?

Yes, it was a HUGE hit, instant millionaires to those who created them.
