I purchased one raffle ticket two months ago and now I went back to see how many tickets were sold but the site luckyhasher.com is offline.

I'd like to know whats going on and will it come back?

IMO 2 things jump out at me when I read your pitch:

1)  Incomplete info on how a winner is selected:  you will need to provide a full, detailed explanation of how you calculate a winner for this to be taken seriously.

2)  Hefty rake:  50x .5 btc raffle tickets = 25 btc = ~ $300 and you ship a $150 BFL Jalapeno that may or may not be delivered?  Also what if BFL does not deliver by January?  Feb? March? April?

1) I'll start writing up a better explanation to be added.

2) There is a little bit of margin there but that is a) to also cover international shipping if required b) covering my ass if there is a dip in the price of BTC.

There is no pre order. If you win either I will put in the order with your name / shipping details, or I can organize it so the winner fills in the order form, select pay via bitpay and then once they get the payment address I will pay it instantly on their behalf.

In the end its a simple raffle, you either want a ticket or you don't. No hard feelings if you wish to skip on it.  I've enjoyed learning how bitcoin works, now I'm here to get a feel with the general tone of the bitcoin community. So far it seems to be a lot of paranoid people, but I guess I can't blame you all for that as from what I've read there have been some pretty big scams come through here before.

The profit I would make from this raffle is probably less than what I paid daniel to help create the script, plus i put my time into the design etc. So as I said, I really don't see this as a way to get rich. Plus it's not worth the time and effort I've put into it to rip people off and not be able to do a second , third or fourth raffle.

Selecting A Winner[/size]
We take every transaction hash and create a sha256 hash from it. If you purchased multiple tickets in the one transaction we rehash more times with an extra number at the end each time until you have the same amount of sha256 hash's as ticket entries.

It's then a process of finding the one with the highest number. In the case there are multiple with the same number, they move on to the next round where we rehash them then repeat the process.

This goes on until just the one entry remains and becomes the winner.

The whole process is automated by a script in our system to save a lot of time.

Good luck with your raffle. Would love to host the raffle at TAABL.net, can set up to your specifications (minimum 50 tickets).

Thanks TTBit, but at this stage it's already hosted and fully working so there is really no need.

*sniff*
Something smells...

Of course the first post is a negative one. I'm not here to rip people off. I put daniel through hell to make sure everything works as it should.

It's been a great experience for me getting to learn how to deal with bitcoin payments on websites. I will hopefully soon be implementing it in other businesses I currently run outside of the bitcoin community.

This project is never going to make anyone rich but has been fun and is now live. If anyone is clearly worried I'm happy to out exactly who i am and prove to you I've been running a legitimate online company for several years now. (just PM me for info if you wish)

I'm hardly about to ruin that to make a couple of dollars through this small project.

Just like all the other raffles it's simply offering you a chance to win something, this one is just smaller as yes I am new to the bitcoin community so there was no way I was going to start of with a huge prize draw and expecting to sell over 1000 tickets right off the bat.

Will You Become The Next Lucky Hasher?

With only 50 tickets in the whole draw rather than 1000+ like most others, this is a raffle that shouldn't be missed.

Once all 50 tickets have been sold a winner will be selected via the method explained below.

Giving you the opportunity to grab one of the highly anticipated Butterfly Labs Jalapeno ASIC Bitcoin Miners worth $149 USD Plus we will cover the cost of shipping it to you
or
If you choose you can take the cash option and have your winnings paid to you in Bitcoin (BTC).

How To Enter
Simply visit our website here : LuckyHasher.com and fill out the form with the amount of tickets you wish to purchase as well as your email address. Upon submitting the form you will be shown a Bitcoin address that you should send the entry fee to.

When our system detects that you have sent the payment you will receive an email to confirm your entry into the draw.

Once the winner is selected they will be notified via email plus we will update this page with the transaction number of the winner as well as a link with a closer look at exactly how that winner was selected.

PS. I would just like to add that I hired danieldaniel to help create this script so that it was easy to use and also fair in the way that it selects the winner. As it uses the sha256 hash of each random generated transaction id it is completely out or my hands and unknown to me who will win until I run the script.

Daniel was great to work with so if you ever need help with coding I recommend contacting him.
