I bought this waaaay back when it was originally released and it has sat in the corner of my monitor chugging along perfectly since day one.

However, it appears to have stopped working as of a day or two ago, suggestions?

Thanks,

Use winrar or equivalent to put all the extracted files back together. Make sure to save it in a ZIP format but change to .ZIP to .Gadget

Hi, I also bought it.

When I try to edit the gadget-file and change 15 minutes "1000 * 60 * 15" to "1000 * 60 * 5", save the file and try to install it Windows displays error message: "Not a viable gadget file". I edited with notepad++. Any special way to save the file?

You need to zip it along with all the other files in the archive and create a new .gadget file. Other than that, no, there is nothing special to do. But the windows gadget system is very buggy, so you could be out of luck, sorry :-/

I've uploaded a new version that is compatible with the new MtGox API:

http://www.bitcoinservice.co.uk/files/859

The price is now 0.15BTC. Get it while it's hot!

For people who already have bought the gadget and would like a free upgrade, PM me a hash of the old file and your email, and I'll send you the new version.

Strange, my old version (1.0.0.1) still works fine and looks like the above.

I don't want to hammer Mt. Gox too much, at least not by default. But it's very easy to change in the main html file, after you unzip the gadget.

Great gadget, I bought it. But I also found refresh time of 15mins is too much, set it much much shorter.

Oh, to clarify: I made my own design, not my own gadget. All of the code is yours. I just unpacked it and changed a couple lines here and there to match my design.

Awesome! I just bought it, and it works well.

The one thing is, I didn't like the design, so I made my own. =]

What do you think?

Very cool Smiley

Ok, at a first glance, it seems that MtGox have changed their API. I'll try to upload a new version this week-end.

BTW, I want to lower the price for the gadget, but bitcoinservice.co.uk doesn't allow fractional amounts of bitcoins. Does anyone have a better solution to distribute my gadget?

What operating systems are supported here?  My Vista laptop died unexpectedly, so for the near future I'm limited to my WinXP desktop.  I'm guessing this is Vista/7+ right?

Yes, although I didn't test on Vista. Should work though. Feedback welcome!

Yeah, it went well. After paying, the download was available immediately. It works great Smiley

Great. I must say, I was a bit nervous, especially after the nightmare that developing that Gadget was. You'd think Microsoft would have provided a nice a well-documented API to motivate developers to write stuff for their new OS; well, no :-)

Hi all,

I've written a simple windows gadget (desktop widget) to monitor the BTC/USD exchange rate at Mt. Gox. It looks like this:

It displays the current exchange rate statistics, and will glow (in a non-intrusive way!) when the rate goes up or down, or when the volume increases.

Anyways, I'm selling it for 0.10BTC. You can purchase it at http://www.bitcoinservice.co.uk/files/859. For those concerned about security, note that a .gadget file is simply a zip archive, and everything is in clear (the bulk of the gadget is specialized javascript); so you can audit it before you install it.

Any remarks or suggestions welcome!

PS: for those who prefer linux, just a reminder that I've made a similar widget that you can get for free: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Bitcoin+Rate?content=138572

PPS: is there a place on the wiki for software like this?
