Welcome my friend, welcome to the world of bitcointalk  Grin
As you said you're not a total newbie in the sense you don't know anything about bitcoin.
This is the best place to learn though, I knew nothing about bitcoin when I came here other than I was advised by a very wealthy client to invest in it for the future.

This is the best place to be though to get advice, ask any question & it's more than likely people will help where they can.
The only thing I'll advise you to do is to buy a number of bitcoin that you can afford to put in cold storage & forget about for a few years at least.
Think of them as a long term investment, it might be the best thing you ever do Wink

Good luck any way & enjoy your time on the forum as part of the community.
Have fun mate.

Greetings to All~

I am newer to Bitcoin (about 12 months) and am looking to learn more about trading, arbitrage and other alt coins.  I also enjoy sharing my limited knowledge in an effort to educate others about crypto currencies.  I've know about BTC since its inception and could really kick myself for dismissing it as "nerd money" in hindsight.  I have a few successful trades under my belt via LBC and have been studying, researching and in my quest for knowledge, bugging the begeezes out of more successful traders in an effort to learn the "secret sauce" recipe Wink.

They've obliged my requests so I figure - Hey!  Why not entertain your quest for knowledge on a GRANDER scale.  Now I'm here....

I must say that I've been reviewing quite a few of the threads and.....WOW! (It's a tough crowd - But if you want results, you have to deal with the good, the bad and the ugly)

For the most part, I can say that I've been educated and entertained thus far, so I consider that a happy medium.

Let the journey begin!  Young grasshopper comes seeking knowledge - Impart your wisdom O' wise forum members....

Welcome to the forum.  If you enjoy sharing your knowledge you might want to think about starting a blog, there are places like blogspot where you can get started for free.  It literally takes minutes to set it up.  If you want you can put some adsense or affiliate links on there and make a few bucks too.  If you do start a blog you might be able to announce it here in the forums somewhere (I would ask a mod where the right place is).  Also if you start one feel free to PM me and let me know, I would be interested in reading it.

For trading I have some advice:  Don't risk too much.  In fact you have an advantage over other types of trades liek stocks because for bitcoins they charge a flat %, for stocks they generally charge a flat fee (7$ or so).  This means that you can trade bitcoins with just some satoshis and not have to worry about losing because it is such a small amount.

Nope hero member is 18months but yes would have been a senior. Rank does not matter does it, knowledge does and he seems to have some. Welcome, glad you finally made it with us.

Rank helps as far as if you do a signature campaign.  Most pay higher the higher the rank you are.

I have one rank to go and it honestly get's less fun ranking up the higher you go.  I don't get near the enjoyment I once did watching activity level go up.  I just enjoy the forums at this point.

I'm surprised as well it's hard to be part of bitcoin and not use this site.  Next best thing is probley reddit.  Just have to use something to keep up to date.

After reading one big thing to be careful is people offering arbitrage.  I have seen people make profit, but it's possible to lose money through them aswell.  And if you do a bot trying to do it chances are it's battling other bots trying to do it.  I just see it as something hard to do.
