Here's how to actually choose a crypto asset: choose Bitcoin. Ignore altcoins, "good projects", NFT, tokens, DeFi and all the other "get rich quick" stuff. Bitcoin very reliably shows fantastic performance because it has a very solid track record of being secure and doing what it was designed to do. Meanwhile all the altcoins are just empty promises that their project will some day change the world, but in reality some day the devs will abandon it once they pocketed enough money.

Hello everyone, sorry for the mistake I made, Yes, I admit that the topic I created was not listed by a clear source. I took the post from here https://coinvestasi.com/beli-bitcoin/panduan/pemula/tips-memilih-aset-cryptocurrency-yang-legit

When making the post I forgot to attach the source. This error is purely from me, because this is my first post since I'm Off on December 27, 2019.
I hope anyone here can forgive me.  Yes, it was my fault.

ok, I've updated it and have attached the source

Even though you have admitted your mistake now but there is an important lesson you should remember, and never forget to give credit (source) to the original owner if you take anything from him this will only give you a chance to gain respect from other users.

Plagiarism is never a good thing for you or all other users to do even if you intend to try to improve your post. So next time never forget to add original source when you post something from someone else's idea.

No, paraphrasing is not allowed on the forum, all the more so obvious.
Of course, it's very satisfying.  Cheesy

I only took action because of his cheating behavior with alt and have immediately flagged him [he deserves it], but I didn't take any action regarding this plagiarism and I also advise him to edit the post if he doesn't want to be reported for his behavior.

......
although I agree that the OP did that but let him live  Smiley  advice to OP immediately edit your post and add original owner source to avoid ban as plagiarism can cause your account to be banned.

I hope someone experienced can explain to me is paraphrasing the text for his own sake [perhap out of merit] without linking the source is allowed and not against the rule of this forum?

No, paraphrasing is not allowed on the forum, all the more so obvious.
But I'll just quote LoyceV. Smiley

One way to search for plagiarism is to run a part of the text through Google search engine for matches. You can customize your search by adding quotes to the text
Plagiarism is often quite obvious: if a bounty spammer suddenly created a long post, that's a red flag. Or if someone earned all his Merit only from one post.
Sometimes it's easy to detect, but when they use a word spinner it becomes much more difficult (and more satisfying to catch them).

lovemayfamilis, I've advised the OP to link the source to the thread because based on the source I'm referencing then this is clearly not his own thought and this is paraphrasing the text which is also a type of plagiarism. I don't know if paraphrasing someone else's text without linking the source is allowed on the forum or not, but the OP seem like he has no desire to mention the source and wants to hide everything so this thread seem to be his [OP thought].

I hope someone experienced can explain to me is paraphrasing the text for his own sake [perhap out of merit] without linking the source is allowed and not against the rule of this forum?

The following are unofficial rules that can be used as guidelines.

There should be 3 other item that you need to include in the list if I refer to the source below. 10 Easy Ways To Pick Which Cryptocurrencies To Invest In.

I don't think that all the content in your thread is the result of plagiarism, but I would only suggest if you take something from a specific source then it's also a good idea to attach the original source so as not to violate any rule which may result in your account being banned in the future.

You are right. This is not plagiarism, but it is not his work either. Here can be attributed to paraphrasing. Although having checked the entire text, we see a sequence of descriptions of all steps. This is not a coincidence. And the OP need, it is imperative to show the source where he took the text from, shortened it, and paraphrased it at the same time.

6. Leadership.
The success of a crypto project is navigated by a leadership team, they make all the big decisions. Project leaders are the people who carry out the vision, so potential investors need to research their team and also see what they have accomplished.

There are a number of things to consider when looking at project leader engagement, such as:

  • potential investors should see if they personally invest in the project.
  • See other crypto related projects they have worked on or if they have relevant experience.
  • Do they have a reputation as CEO?
  • Research what their leadership team is saying about the coin and what they want to achieve.

Unfortunately, nowadays, it is hard to choose cryptocurrencies on these bases alone. I cannot name a specific coin, but the crypto market must have been a witness of how a very promising project with a great team and an equally great vision slowly dying into oblivion while a shabby project quickly copied from existing ones solely for the sake of making the most of a certain hype is hitting one success milestone after another.

I hope I'm wrong but with the market exploding, gone are the days when investors and supporters would first check at the whitepaper for what a specific project could offer and its feasibility. It seems a pragmatic team of developers would rather want to create hype around their project rather than disseminate their whitepaper to as wide audience as possible.

I think these must be added too.
  • the real use of the project, it should be not redundant from other existing projects
  • use their own blockchain
  • planning to list in a big exchange
Some project contradict to this. Like own blockchain, some project are residing on another chain like sol avax fantom and eth to save time to implement on their use case. Not everyone is like axie who got their own ronin chain but the suggestion is good which proved the sincerity of the project, but for me, to make them move and fast track their plans, residing on big chain isn't bad as starter.

The thing is many project act very good and promising in the beginning, after they got sufficient money from investors then they suddenly disappeared (rug pull). It may help you to define which is good and crap project, but it doesn't really help 100% to know which project is legit.

People interested with Ethereum due to staking, which they think they will earn more money from the token they staked. But they didn't know how many Ethereum has been premined by the CEO.

But don't forget one most important thing. "Do your own research and make a decision based on that".
everything you have listed can easily be faked, accidentally or intentionally misreported. No matter if we talk about whitepaper, vision or whatever.
here is the simplest example, community. The presence of a bounty campaign is proof that communities are mostly fake. So if we just trust Twitter, then an account with xxxk followers must be in right.
Or not?
So, trust only to yourself judgement and pay attention to all details.

Except you want to take advantage of the speculative value in the short term, you should not be investing in new projects, and as a newbie, you should not invest in them at all. Majority of them turn out to be shitcoins or outright scams, although, there may be a few which will actually turn out good, but in the long run, those few would not be enough to bring you a profit as you would have lost out from many others.

There are a lot of them that you must consider not these very basic ways of checking the project.   Because IMO, even if they had all you have stated above, once a project that has a motive to scam people, they will abandon the project at the end and that's a type of scamming investors, that's an exit scam.

I think these must be added too.
  • the real use of the project, it should be not redundant from other existing projects
  • use their own blockchain
