Don't think you should go solo with your current rate.
regarding the probability, there is litecoin calculator on the web that you can use to estimate the amount of time it take to have a reasonable chance of solving a block.
My personal pref to go solo is when I can have above 55% chance of solving a block in about 24 to 30 hours. Otherwise, pool mining is a better choice for more consistent return. Again, just personal pref.

By what time a person should make hte transition from pool to solo any idea or inputs??
To answer that question you need two other pieces of information besides your own hash rate. You need to know what the current total network hash rate is, and you need to know how long you are willing to wait to find a block.
Are you interested in solo mining if you are likely to find a block once every 1,000 years? How about once every 10 years? Once per year? Twice per year? Every month? Every week? Every day? Hour?

Right now i have 1.4Ghaash/sec..i am planning to make it around 5 Ghash/Sec by this weekend then another 3 Ghash/sec added in another week..By what time a person should make hte transition from pool to solo any idea or inputs??
