Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
If you are using "bitcoin.com", be aware that this is actually a scam site designed to trick you in to buying a coin called BCash (BCH) which is not bitcoin. Make sure you are actually buying bitcoin (BTC).
They did that for a long time, but they have actually changed that. Not sure what prompted them to make that change, but I felt it's important to mention. When you visit the site now and click on the "Buy/Sell Bitcoin" button, it automatically sets you up to purchase the real Bitcoin. And they no longer call it Bitcoin Core, it's just Bitcoin now. If you want Bitcoin Cash, you'll have to select it manually from the dropdown menu.

If using this method, all he has to do is click on the little tab next to "Request" which says "Address", and Electrum will strip all the extraneous formatting and just provide the address for copying.
My bad. I don't know how I missed it maybe because Electrum opened the "request" tab by default for me (it opens the tab you used the last time).
However, I still prefer this method and letting Electrum choose an address for you over picking one manually from the Addresses list as this guarantees you will get an unused one. A new user might pick an already used address which is not recommended for privacy reasons (unless he knows about the "filter" feature and knows how to use it)
Also, by using the receive tab, Electrum will take care of generating a new set of addresses each time you reach the gap limit.

He means "address" next to "request" on the "receive" tab not the "addresses" tab. It's right there in the second screenshot you posted. The address subtab gives you just the address.

It should be on the "Recieve" option, there might be 26-35 alphanumeric characters depending on what kind of Bitcoin address you have chosen.
Since version 4.1.0, which was released on March 30th, Electrum no longer prompts users to pick their seed type and instead defaults to SegWit (P2WPKH). It never provided the option to create P2SH addresses. Since OP is a new user who has just downloaded Electrum for the first time, his addresses will be P2WPKH starting with "bc1".

Instead double click on the address and make sure only the part between ":" and "?" is selected. Now just copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C).

Electrum GUI can be confusing for new users specially the "receive" tab.
After you create your wallet and back up its seed (12 words), do what o_e_l_e_o suggested or:
1- go to the "Receive" tab
2- click the "New a=Address" button

A new receiving address will show up. Don't click the copy button as it will copy the whole URI and all you need is the address. Instead double click on the address and make sure only the part between ":" and "?" is selected. Now just copy it to the clipboard (Ctrl+C).

When you paste it on bitcoin.com or anywhere else double check it to be sure it's the same address and hasn't been altered.

Electrum wallet isn't an exchange to purchase Bitcoin, please elaborate more on which exchange you attempt to purchase Bitcoin and each wallet has the same feature in finding a Bitcoin address.  It should be on the "Recieve" option, there might be 26-35 alphanumeric characters depending on what kind of Bitcoin address you have chosen.
It should be like this.
  • P2PKH which begin with the number 1
  • P2SH type starting with the number 3
  • Bech32 type starting with bc1

Bitcoin is prompting me for my wallet address.
Can you clarify where you are purchasing bitcoin from which is prompting you for your withdrawal address? If you are using "bitcoin.com", be aware that this is actually a scam site designed to trick you in to buying a coin called BCash (BCH) which is not bitcoin. Make sure you are actually buying bitcoin (BTC).

I have installed the electrum wallet but cannot find this information.  Anyone who is willing to help?
Have you created an Electrum wallet yet? You need to hit the button "Create New Wallet", choose a name for your wallet, select "Standard Wallet", "Create a new seed", and then write down the 12 words your are given on a piece of paper which you still store somewhere safe. Do not be tempted to take a picture or screenshot of these words or save them in a document, email account, cloud storage, etc. Write them down on paper only. Confirm them on the next screen, and then choose a password to encrypt your wallet. Once you've done all that, you can click on the tab "View" then "Show Addresses", and pick any address labelled "receiving".

Try Gunbot for a month go to -> https://gunbot.ph
You can either click the tab with the title "Addresses" or you can go to "Receive" and use the address generated there. Make sure to double check the addresses before transacting just to make sure you are transferring to the right wallet.
