Have you contacted the admin of the app/website?

Some exchanges really do give back the money
you sent accidentally given of course that you
contact them and request for it. The waiting comes after
that. It might take a while but it definitely possible.

That's not possible at all, you can look for it anywhere (Reddit, Quora, etc.) and you definitely won't find it, Coinbase has its own procedures and it's different from Binance, if you send unsupported token to Binance, of course they will return it to you with a small recovery fee. I mean don't give @OP false expectations or pessimism, maybe he can learn from his mistakes.

Don't make @OP pessimistic with your statement, it's not 100% gone yet, as the asset @OP is referring to is a well-known token (WETH), let's hope Coinbase ASAP in the future support $WETH.
Yeah, probably Coinbase will add WETH in the next 2 years, also @OP need to hope if won't bankrupt until he can withdraw his token.

LOL, let's hope that will happen soon and don't have to wait another 2 years, I'm afraid they will have a case like what KuCoin recently experienced in the future Cheesy.

The only chance you have to recover your asset is if you contact Coinbase customer support and they give you positive feedback regarding how you can get back your asset. Every exchange has their own rules, and like some members here already mentioned, there are some exchanges that will give you their terms, and after you fill out those terms, you can get back your coin, but it's not usually a fair offer you will get.
Coinbase is one of many exchanges that really hard to recover losing funds, most of the cases they don't want to recover. Someone was send 29 ETH and Coinbase gave a same answer, if they didn't want to recover 29 WETH, they wouldn't want to recover the funds that just 1 WETH.

You can contact support, and the feedback you get from them is what will determine if you can actually get back your WETH or not. You should probably wait until the future, when such coins will be allowed on the exchange.

Sorry, you really are going to go through an inconvenience  situation because of this mistake.

Based on their help page that I read, it is not possible for you to recover assets that you have sent there if the assets are not yet supported (unless it reaches 2 certain conditions).

The 2 conditions they mean are:
1. Certain assets are eligible for our recovery with our asset recovery tool, which allows you to have the lost funds recovered to a self-custodial wallet.
2. If an ERC20 asset becomes supported on Coinbase at a later date, any of those assets that were previously sent to your Coinbase account will automatically become available in that account.

From their statement it seems impossible to ask their support department to send back the assets manually, unlike Binance which is willing to send back unsupported assets with a recovery fee.

Unfortunately your coins are lost, although the amount is big and you only can take this mistake as a lesson, but I'm sure you will be more carefully because your trauma will haunt you to not make any mistake again.

I sent 1 WETH to coinbase from my Coinbase wallet...  I didn't realize that WETH needed to be unwrapped until after I sent it. They are saying that they do not support WETH and therefore it is lost until they possibly will support it in the future. Has anyone had any experience of getting their WETH back or do I have to wait..
Im a newby btw.
If you are a newbie do not carry out unguided transaction, it's a big red flag that can hunt you so bad. Also why deal in an altcoin or any other coin you still haven't gotten complete knowledge about it.

Also I don't deal with Altcoins that much but I am familiar with transaction and before you carry out a transaction you would be guided by the platform to confirm some certain details like network and so on with a warning that if it's wrong your coin would be lost. Always tried cautiously.

Remember @OP, if someone DM'ed you and offer service to recover your coins, it's 100% scam. Don't let yourself to lose more than 1 ETH.

I have been a binance fan when it comes to exchange dealings but since it's restricted from us easily last month I had to quit it and run to another exchange and my experience with binance was cool and I have not had a bad days with binance exchange.
Like @Nwada001 said earlier, I also believed that there are always another alternatives to recover any tokens that's not listed on any exchange, so if the coinbase does not support the token and it's already sent to it you might be giving an option to recover them back but if there's non mate you only have to wait until further notice and you should also believe me when i say they might mot list the token, which means its lost forever.

Wow, this isn't good news at all, because there is a very slim chance that you will ever get your WETH back, I've only got lucky once when I sent the wrong crypto to an ETH address on an exchange, the team helped me out even though the exchange was new, I wasn't expecting to ever get it back.

I do hope that the team will help, but the chances are slim, next time always be sure that the exchange supports the coin that you want to deposit, first of all, Wrapped ETH is different from ETH, the majority of exchanges these days don't support WETH, always check first before proceeding.

I hope you get help somehow, many people have lost their assets this way, the team should be able to help but most of them won't, it's a good excuse to run away with your assets since you are the one who makes the mistake.

Waiting won't give your WETH either, usually coins/tokens sent to an exchange are considered as permanently lost by user when it's not supported by the exchange. But exchange can retrieve it back (rare), for that you need to contact the support team and explain in detail and see what's their response about recovering.

The thing is, when you deposit an unlisted token into an exchange account, most exchanges usually give two or more options that could be used to recover the token, and these options are:

Most exchanges, like Binance, might ask you to pay a recovery fee, which you will need to deposit into your account, and they will charge it from there.

The last time I made such a mistake, I was asked to either pay $500 for it to be recovered or 5% of the token, which has a higher value, or I could possibly wait until the token gets listed and then contact them to manually deposit the coin into my account.

Some exchange will tell you that deposit is lost forever why some which are not that large and have time to manually recover your funds for you will help you recover and send the token back to your wallet which originally deposited into your exchange account but will you have to pay for the network fee, such mistake in most of the cases have always lead to the token being lost forever.

Although I have not had any experience with coinbase and WETH but I have similar experience with another coin/token which amounted to lost of funds till date.

I had this CRO tokens in a crypto.com wallet but which I tried to send it out, I never knew it can't send to a wallet address that starts with 0x... So if I had to send it out it must be with an address that starts with CRO.... So I ignorantly sent it to an ERC20 address with 0x which was the end of the token for me. I didn't receive the token till date and I was told the same thing that untill they support that token I wouldn't see it in my balance.

Why I shared this experience with you is to say that you have probably lost the token since it's not supported in coinbase, and there is absolutely no way to get it back.
