Great surprise but this seems legit, not another fake story.

As others mention, this is not a very popular exchange but it seems they gave huge money backing them up , so it will be a big exchange soon.

If not because the op mentioned this, I would not have even known that the storm was a cryptocurrency and I searched myself and could not find any information on it, are you sure that it is not just a marketing strategy used to just get people to know about the coin prior to their existence, and one also need to be careful with some of these shilled coins because anyone could have as well photoshopped the logo into the jersey.

As I am here, I could remove that logo and put bitcoin there, then raise a news that the player has a working relationship with bitcoin and the funny thing is that questions would not be asked even by the player. Well if it is through, I would say congrats to the Intending coin, they have finally gotten the attention that they seek.
Oeleo already confirmed the news is official by providing the link from the club's website, the term cryptosponsor at first glance could mean crypto(currency)sponsor but it could also mean a crypto(exchange)sponsor or anything else related to crypto since the term used in the title isn't specific. Also on the article that OP linked it was mentioned that stormgrain is an exchange, on first look their homepage reminds me of Bitstamp.

I'm curious as to how much vetting or otherwise football clubs and other sports teams do of their sponsors, or do they not pay too much attention provided they can pay the appropriate fee?

Here is the Everton sponsor

Yeah, it's Angry Birds!  Grin

And here is the list of sponsors:
https://www.scoreandchange.com/overview-2019-2020-premier-league-sponsors/

And of course, no price disclosed... the most interesting...

They will have to at the end of the year, till now, only rumors.

he financial terms of Newcastle's deal with StormGain have not been made public, but it is understood to be worth less than UK£2 million (US$2.48 million).

So if you have the money you have the power, you can even get a stadium wearing your name the 'o_e_l_e_o stadium' or the 'o_e_l_e_o Premier League'
Time to start collecting donations! Perhaps we could rename it Oeleold Trafford. Grin

I'm not sure how effective it will be for this exchange and wonder if it's not a waste of money. I tend to think that a betting site has a better place, in term of ROI.

@o_e_l_e_o As long the brand is not about tobacco or alcohol the FIFA allows any brand type. So if you have the money you have the power, you can even get a stadium wearing your name the 'o_e_l_e_o stadium' or the 'o_e_l_e_o Premier League (In Spain there is even a train station called Vodafone lol)

It's not an altcoin, but rather an exchange. I've never heard of it either, but the news is legit - here is the press release from Newcastle United's website: https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/stormgain-named-official-sleeve-partner/

I'm curious as to how much vetting or otherwise football clubs and other sports teams do of their sponsors, or do they not pay too much attention provided they can pay the appropriate fee? The stormgain.com domain was only registered a few months ago, and they are based in Seychelles. I can find very little in the way of reviews or feedback online about people using it successfully. They are not listed on any major crypto site. I can find no data on their volume or number of users. Can Newcastle United say for sure this exchange isn't a scam?
