The RX 480 should hash at a minimum of 25 MH stock using ~100 watts.  Plus it will have good resale value for a long time.

All 28 nm AMD cards are about to have a massive loss in resale value; which is why you see users selling their nanos and 390's now.

If someone writes an optimized firmware for the 480 it might even get 30 MH with 60 watts.

Also I wouldn't worry about a POS switch.  Wink

Newegg just dropped prices on these to $205/$230 (USD/CAD) as they did before. I guess its a better deal if you are Canadian.

I've been watching prices pretty closely, i dont think they understand which card sell well, at what price and why.

I have the max of 5 sitting in my cart but can't come to grips of buying just yet. I feel the 480x or even the 470x will be a better value long term. what was the comment about the "special Stilt bios for this GPU." Is that the only way to hit the 29.6? I have a machine ready for the 480x or 470x, just waiting for their release. I currently sit at 350 mhs in my garage.

You can run it at 30MH/s stock but it will be crazy loud and use large amounts of electricity.

Decided to post this here because this seems like a better deal than most "used" GPUs in this section. Newegg also accepts BITCOIN !

For USA:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202218&cm_re=sapphire_r9_290-_-14-202-218-_-Product

$204.99 with free shipping

For Canada:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202218&cm_re=r9_290_sapphire-_-14-202-218-_-Product

$229.99 with 8.99 shipping

Occasionally these might go down another $20-30 from time to time. Last week the price was $229.99 from $249.99. So keep checking the prices.

I know the 480 is due out soon but nobody knows what the speed will be, price , availability, etc. With newegg you can even send it back within 30 days for a refund (no restocking fees if you join their premier program)

These are refurburished but you get 90 day warranty which is alot better than buying a used GPU with no warranty at all.

You will need a special Stilt bios for this GPU.
This GPU hashes at exactly 29.6MH/s and will NOT slow down due to DAG file increases.
Efficiency is average. Have 2 running in one rig using Corsair 750 Bronze PSU using 550Watt at the wall so probably each GPU is ~200 Watts.

A lot of us at the Ethereum Mining forum bought tons of these already and are pretty happy. From time to time you might get a bad GPU but you can always send it back for an exchange.

Only annoyance with this card is the noise. Its loud being a reference design. However since its built by AMD its built rock solid. Very rarely do reference GPUs fail and its even more rare for a reference fan to fail.
