This is very irresponsible of the conference organizers and the Parisian Ethereum community. It might have been ok to give them excuse if the conference was on January or February. However, on March, it is a certainty that all conferences and mass gatherings should be declared dangerous.

Also, yes, the vaccine is a treatment to make the body immune from certain diseases, however, it is not a treatment if someone already is suffering from the disease.
So why they are still calling it vaccine if its not a treatment as many people already been suffering from the disease? Based from what I have observed in several countries the problem I see here is if the Nation's government hasn't acted out in response to the pandemic for some businesses and organizations they will still try to run their operations normally and call is "business as usual", hate to see these kinds of events and businesses only seeing profit rather than looking out the well-being of their employees as well as there event goers. France only commenced there national lockdown during March 17 so a lot of businesses and events still push through even though they know the danger they have in their country. However we can't really blame this event in particular for them being infected, France already have a lot of confirmed cases even on the first month of 2020 so we cannot really say that this event is the origin of the infection, it's even possible that they are already silent carriers of the virus even before the event started.

This is not good at all and why would they take such risk? Conferences can be canceled and schedule another time and the intended result would still be achieved, but now the reverse is the case. This virus of a thing is breaking up many things in this world, businesses are struggling, various markets are struggling, meetings are banned, borders are closed and many more, thus we can only but pray for a quick cure. And also let's try and stick to the measures set in place by the government and health officials as they are for our own good.

Ouch for them, I really hope they get better soon. I would imagine that considering they went to the conference and there were most likely a lot of people in their vicinity, the virus probably spread to many more than 6 people. I read a while back that the virus does have an incubation period (similar to a lot of other infections), so i'm pretty sure with testing there should be a lot more cases.

This is exactly the thinking everyone should had but didn't, that is the big problem. This is like reverse climate change right now. Normally on climate change we tell the rich old folks that we should do something about it, and yet they vote for the people who will do nothing about it and even give tax breaks and subsidize to oil companies to ruin the earth more. Possible treatment is their immune system if they have a very good immune system and they don't have underlying illness, even if there are 50 or 60 years old that can still recover, the virus is only devastating for people with weal immune system I have read one artclewhere one over 70 years able to recover, just need faith and a strong immune system.

However, their selfishness will cause them to be contagious to the older and weaker people around them.

This is really a wrong move for the organizers of the said conference as this moment mass gatherings are clearly discouraged due to the fast and widely spread of corona virus. This can turn out to be the worst if the ones who are tested positive attended those conference. Corona virus gets spread much easily in crowd and it could almost cover the entire crowd. It takes 14 to 20 days for the symptoms to show and till that time the virus can spread much wider. They should have postponed the conferece to avoid to get infected of the virus. There have been positive cases in Paris but still they pushed through it. Many countries have locked down and cancel of important events, like in america they have postponed major sporting events and other countries did too.

This is not good at all, where most countries are already cancelling conferences, mass gatherings etc to limit the spread of this virus and these organizers went head to launch theirs and people even attended. It is understandable that the conference is important but life is more important as it is someone who is healthy that can attend more conferences etc. Let those who attended the conference take precautionary measures to ensure the safety of their friends and loved ones. I wish them quick recovery.

I personally do not think that I am too worried about it myself but if it could still endanger others I would 100% take precautionary measures and especially after WHO itself advises all these things. Agree, what we can do now is to isolate ourselves if we feel something is wrong with our body. Or at least check ourselves to get certainty about our bodies so that we can prevent this outbreak from continuing to others

It is not really possible to isolate ourselves without any national help. We can't exactly identify if we are infected from this virus. This virus is creating a mess as people have ever stopped moving out of their houses. Streets are turning vacant and it is really panicking the citizens.
Moreover, we do not start showing symptoms that quickly as it takes time and we can firstly infect our family members if we interact with this kind of virus. This could spread a lot faster even if few people get infected from us. We should maintain maximum hygiene to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. The individuals from the conference should get themselves tested to keep themselves safe.

I wonder why they decided to go ahead with a public conference when the corona virus was spreading and all countries are cautioning..Any way I hope the people recover soon and the corona panic goes away soon so that the people can resume nor Al daily life activities and socialise Soon like before.

This is a testament that mass gatherings are really not advisable in these days. They thought that they can take care of themselves, but the problem is when they infect other people. And it continues to infect others. And the major problem right now, is that the vaccine is still in trial condition. We don't know how many months do we need to wait before they release it commercially. And by that time, a lot of people are already infected.

When even the biggest sports leagues are cancelling or suspending, it is really not making any sense that people would want to even meet all together. Organizers are as guilty as the people who joined as well. There should have been a riot about getting their money back or postponing this to another time by the people, even if it means burning the cash and not going even after paying for it, many people should have stay absent from it.
If organizers still kept it at the same date and didn't postponed it you should have at least used your mind and not go there yourself. Organizers are definitely guilty, how could anyone be as irresponsible as this to put so many lives in danger, just 6 people who have corona means you have to test hundreds who are in contact with them.

On March 3-5, when this conference took place, such harsh measures by states against the spread of coronavirus have not yet been taken. They were taken just over the last week. Many of these conferences have already been rescheduled or decided to hold them in virtual mode. From the current position, of course, such mass events already seem irresponsible from the point of view of safety for the participants and the real threat of getting this virus.
Means during that time there already a significant positive carrier of virus. Since the symptoms arent very shown, the airbone virus is very dangerous cause probably the carrier himseld doesnt know he already have. Probably only known when he visited the hospital for some sickness he is feeling.
We cant totally blame them as the news spread after the week of that mentioned conference. Anyway Im sure all following events will be cancelled now.

Agreed. Italy is the very example of people who have underestimated the pandemic until it has become too late to stop it. I reckon that there might be some hospitals that are already overwhelmed and might have to choose which patients live and which die. The old might be the sacrifice.

that surprised not only you but many people were also surprised because we know that this virus spreads very quickly so if the ethereum community has found that exposed to corona then the circulation of people interacting when gathering will be more and more potential to be infected hopefully this will not provide bad impact for ethereum prices.

Most conferences were postponed. In my area all schools, cinemas, shoping centers are closed. Borders are getting shut down in the way that only citizens can enter and all visitors and tourists are held back, unless they have families here. People who come from high risk areas like China or Korea are quarantined and they went on with the conference?

And do you see the paradox how bad the centralization is? The most influential community members from Ethereum attended to a party and now almost all of them are positive? What if this matter affected the stability of the project? For example Bitcoin doesn´t have such problem because the whole world has to be inffected to endanger the stability of Bitcoin.

This is terrible and shocking, i know corona is spreading across europe quite fast but recent emergency response at global level will yield results in a month or so i guess, many people are in a state of panic or fear but i think with the isolation and no gathering policy across the globe, world will be able to control this virus in a couple of weeks time.

This is very irresponsible of the conference organizers and the Parisian Ethereum community. It might have been ok to give them excuse if the conference was on January or February. However, on March, it is a certainty that all conferences and mass gatherings should be declared dangerous.
In Paris yes it is dangerous, but in many countries not, since they have zero infected. Situation of course can change, and it will change. And Paris might become corona free and conferences there might get safe again.

Very sad to hear that few people have been affected by the virus. Everyone who was present there should get their test done. Why was it not postponed or cancelled. March is the month when it started to spread in Europe.

Doesn't matter what is that they wanted to discussed in public, everyone should take every precautions because of the high risk involved in contacting the virus specially in a crowded and public places.
As for those who attend, they should have take into consideration that they can be infected and that's what really happened here, I think both sides are guilty here, the organizers should have postponed though, no question about it.

It's totally sad to hear and maybe the rest of the conference right now should be postponed so we can avoid more people who can get infected by this virus. I don't know if they heard that most of the crypto conferences in ASIA got cancel and it's because of this virus and I don't know why they are not aware of this. Is there any information about how many people gathered at the conference? because we don't know if there are 6 people who got infected (but I hope the rest are not infected) and maybe those people who didn't get affected also need to be quarantined for their safety.

The likes of premier league, festivals, basketball league etc were all cancelled irrespective of the money at risk but just a conference that could be done online just to prevent physical contact still felt they have the need to carry-out their meeting.
I blame the organization but send my well wishes to the affected individual and pray for a speedy recovery, just hope this doesn't affect the ethereum price negatively as I don't think ethereum can survive another massive decline in price value especially a case that only the coin is involved and not a general market correction.

They already know how dangerous the virus but still they insist a conference socializing with a lots of people of course theres a chance of potential transfer since covid is airborne. Organizers should be blame for this, Im thinking if they didnt know that having mass people is now being avoided to contained such spreading of virus hence they didnt abort the conference? Sorry for those who have been positive, but hopefully in future othet blockchain events should be cancelled until the situation change.
