I speculate that much of the XRP Army on social media were fake and from farmed accounts created in an office hehehe.

Account farming was also done here in the forum before the merit system.
I don't think that the problem is because of account farming. In my place, Ripple was very hyped in 2 or 3 years ago. But over a long time, it hasn't accomplished any new development. This abates its investors' interest. Also, a number of people have realized the fact that Ripple is a centralized coin and stop following its social medias.

Agreed that it might only be a speculation from me, however, it does not change anything that there are millions of farmed accounts all around the internet that were created for fake hype and fake activity which might be what the XRPArmy was.

Not really surprising, it was known for years that Ripple employs bots, and they were always known for their aggressive marketing, which is a bad sign for any cryptocurrency - cryptos are supposed to be decentralized open-source projects that rely on real communities instead of having a multi-million company doing everything. And this whole idea of partnering with banks was never meant to happen, banks already have systems like Visa and SWIFT to work with, which by the way don't stay in one place, so why would they choose some new unproven solution.

Since Jed McCaleb, founder of Ripple already make a statement about him selling his Ripple bag, that is a clear sign showing Ripple slowly going downhill. Of course, Ripple bag holders try their best to create a hype to introduce new investors into the Ripple market. I think that's expected and understandable.

I remember how Ripple media use to shill ripple and some persons even predicted it to beat bitcoin and become the top crypto coin. This was further compounded when XRP displaced Eth from 2 second  position as regards traded volume but didn't last long. XRP holders have wondered why no growth of XRP as compared to the gain recorded last year and this year by other coins.

@Twinkledoe. It is not the Ripple team. I reckon the Ripple development team does not care about a community of XRP users because Ripple team's adoption strategy is to partner with banks and make their clients use Ripple.

It might be the XRP influencers who might be responsible for the farmed XRPArmy clickbots. There was one female XRP influencer who declared that she was leaving the XRP community because of the toxicity of the cryptospace. Coincidentally, the XRPArmy also dissolved during that time.

I will not accuse, however, why that timing?

@Febo. However, a dissolving community was not the only issue the article implied. I was mentioned that the XRP Army on Twitter is fake similar to farmed accounts and bumping services here on bitcointalk.

XRP team should stop doing these fake supporters technique as it is really obvious. Why they keep on doing such cheap strategy? If they have good things planned for XRP, then, let the community decide for it but not to the point that they will shill their own. This is the reason why it is hard to trust them because they continuously do that strategy. They are pretty popular than other altcoins, so what they can do is just show that they really do have solid developments. They don't need to shill their own if the community will see such good development.

Data shows Ripple's community is dissolving fast

It is the same with all coin communities. And this fact will not change before Bitcoin reaches $20000 again. At that time community will expand exponentially. Question is if we can call that a community at all. Or the community is people that follow coin at time where we are right now.

The funding was probably cut short  Huh

~ it is a centralized project that advertises itself as a decentralized platform to trick people that it is similar to bitcoin.
Actually, not similar but more decentralized says the Ripple CEO - XRP MORE DECENTRALIZED THAN BITCOIN, ETHEREUM, RIPPLE CEO SAYS

The irony though Grin

It's really hard to see XRP is slowly fading from people's eye, they need come up with strong analytical skills to catch Investors mind. Ripple was a powerful asset when BTC went down badly, it was tremendous centralised platform where a large number of investors gathered when BTC went down. However I still believe XRP will bounce back than ever.

An example of XRP scamming shills that linger on these forums as well. Or just disillusioned investors who bought at the mountain peak in 2018 with their life savings.

Good reporting @bbc, I like your frequent and solid content here on BTT.

@mahilchii. I reckon you have to know more about the asset that you are buying before defending it. I do not dislike Ripple, however, it is a centralized project that advertises itself as a decentralized platform to trick people that it is similar to bitcoin.

According to new data, however, this is changing, with multiple reports indicating that the Ripple community is shrinking at a rapid clip despite positive fundamental developments.

According to “The State of Digital Assets, Q1 2020” — a report outlining the state of the crypto industry penned by multi-asset trading platform eToro and The TIE, a crypto analytics upstart — the XRP Army has begun to shrink at a notable pace.
