You must pay the VAT too for the Neptune... so I agree with the OP: BA Prospero 3 deserve the crown.

Yeah i'm aware of the Neptune (Even have some shares), but they still don't currently exceed the Black Arrow X3 for Hash/$, which tells me either they are too expensive to make or KNC is overcharging.

I suspect the low hanging fruit (Reducing die size of ASICS) has been done, and the next steps are slower/more expensive to achieve, giving us a path more inline with moores law than minings recent history of far exceeding it.

Most of the asic pre-orders delivering this year are 28nm process.

Next contender is the 20nm die process followed by 14nm die process.

KNC is the first to 20nm die process with their upcoming Neptune.  They're promising 3TH/s but as their history shows, they underpromise and overdeliver(maybe 3.5 TH/s or higher).

14nm probably a year or 2 out at least.

Clearly (If they deliver at end of Feb) The Black Arrow Propsero X3 will be the new holder of the crown for biggest hash per $.
I find myself wondering though what/when will be the next big leap in ASIC technology mining? I could spend a day researching this, but i'm sure
you guys have already have this knowlege, so could you enlighten me?

I guess what i'm really trying to understand is whether the bitcoin mining world is about to finally hit a technology plateau? or is there some new kid on the block thats about to rock our world AGAIN?
