I just came across a news of how the Kaduna State Police Command took some decisive moves to arrest 35 suspected phone snatchers in Kaduna including two females said to be found with Indian hemps and weapons. The news report accounted that raids were carried out within identified black spots in the Metropolitan area of the state. Here's the news: Police arrest 35 phone thieves in Kaduna.

Kudos to the Kaduna police but can we address the cases of smartphone robbery and theft in our society in this 21st century. Now, I'm talking about the individual measures a phone owner can take to prevent his mobile devices from phone theft and what are the effective technological ways to secure your phones in order to enable you identify the location of the phone and recover it without necessarily approaching the security agencies like the Nigerian Police.

My question is, are there no microchips implanted on our mobile phone panels that can help us recover our phones almost immediately when they're stolen or at least give us a lead? Imagine buying an iPhone 15 Pro Max or Samsung Z Fold 6 which are worth more than 3 million naira today.

Gone are those days you can easily decide to forfeit your stolen phone simply because you can afford a new one which is affordable but today, besides the data you're likely to lost, the phones are significantly more expensive now. And I can tell you many of the cases reported to the police are not yet the most effective way to recover your stolen phones especially if the thief had moved away from the crime scene.

Of course there are modern ways for you to recover your phone hence it's stolen within a record time. I feel most persons have not taken out time to explore that part of technological advancement in Nigeria.
If you get your device stolen, you can easily log in the stolen device email in another phone using the Google maps on the other device, of course there are few information from the stolen device you will asked, once you successfully answer those security questions, then your good to go. Once the stolen phone is switched on, the Google maps on the other device will immediately detect the location your stolen phone is, this can be done without the help of any police officer.

However kudos to the Kaduna police command for a successful raid on those criminals, at least they should continue to be up and doing as police force.
Yes I agree to this it has happened to a friend of mine who's phone was missing and was been tracked insteadly with Google maps tracking, Another way which is costly is going to a phone tracker who tracks phone but still a 50/50 most of time it will not go as plan, most of the time I do advise if a new phone is been bought u just go to settings and turn on this future's..
FIND MY MOBILE

1. It allows your phone to be controlled remotely over the internet using.

2 . It allows the Google location service to provide more accurate information about the location of the phone at that particular area.

3 . It helps you recover your password and others lost information.

You can check yours on your phone right now to turn yours on is very important nobody no what the future brings you and you could be a victim of such things safely it better guys.....

First of all I commend di Kaduna, state police for catching di phone thieves, I hope say dem go prosecute dem and let dem to serve dem full sentence as a deterant to other thieves. I hear from one phone seller say dem fit to track brand new stolen phones aldo im no go into details of how dem go track di phones. But di important thing na for every phone owner to de security conscious and try to protect dem phones from thieves. Even wen tracker pinpoint the location of a stolen, you still need to make efforts to go and retrieve am and dat na money matter. No matter how sophisticated wey security agencies and technology de to catch thieves, crime no go stop, so prevention is better than cure, make we make personal efforts to secure our properties.

Phone theft can't be stopped just because we're in the 21st century or because there could be possible chip that could be placed on your mobile device to help trace it if it's stolen. Phones and even cars that comes with trackers still get stolen and those trackers deactivated such that as an owner, you can't trace it at all. There are guys that will run update on your mobile device that even though you try tracking them, it's always going to be deficult to do so and the way some of them do it,  if your device is stolen in a particular state let's say akwa ibom, they can decide to sell it to someone in Lagos so it becomes very deficult to track it and even when you've successfully tracked it, when you consider the distance, it becomes deficult to go source after it.

I'm not all too conversant with the way the whole tracking system works but I've seen a lot of cases where police pick up culprit through thier tracking system. That's part of the reason why it's not advisable to buy second hand phones since most of them are actually stolen phones that could be tracked and the buyer arrested despite his Innocence. The safety tips comes in different phases .

1.  Don't even allow your phone to be stolen in the first place: most expecially in this Nigerian setting, allowing yourself get to the point where you're now looking for who will track your phone for you will cost you money and expose you to a lot of risk. It's even best to have more than one mobile phone to be on a safer side. One can be at home as your working phone that contains most of your key details while the other can contain a less important file that's going to be used for making of calls which you can be using for your outing.

2. It's best to have a backup of most of your device in your email and have most if not all of your passwords written down in pen and peper and possibly stored in multiple locations. The advantage is that even though all your gadgets gets stolen, you still have access to most of your pas keys.

3. Minimize how you leave most of your account on auto login so if for any reason your phone eventually gets stolen while you're trying to change your password and run some security backup, they wouldn't gain access to it and compromise your privacy.

Phone theft is far rampant than what the news carry and untill you fall victim of it, you wouldn't know how much thing you've left in your device without considering that anything can happen to your device anyday and anytime.
