Your country may be your worst enemy

I have interests in Nigeria, and this worries me. The new president has been elected because of Jonathan's failure in dealing with Boko Haram in the North. The new guy is tougher, and experienced, as he was a military ruler, and he's also a muslim. He may be successful in crushing those terrorists but many wonder how he will handle the economy, and attract foreign investors now that income from the oil has fallen.

As long as the Christian-Muslim divide persists in Nigeria, the country will not progress. Even the voting in the presidential election was mostly done as per the sectarian divide. Muslims voted for Muhammadu Buhari, while Christians supported Goodluck Jonathan.

Anybody with a name like Goodluck Jonathan most certainly has to be the best choice.    Grin

Names such as that are the remnants of the missionary activity in the 19th and 20th centuries. The white missionaries considered the African as something less than equal. He does not deserve names such as John or Jeremy which are used by the Western people. Go to Zimbabwe, and you could find people named as "Tobacco", "Friday" or "Cigar".
