Yup, fixed it by deleting everything except for the wallet. Previously, I had deleted just the two blk files. Thanks

It won't sync. It's been sitting at 167 weeks behind for a day now. And there's a warning message at the top.
Please take a look at this post:

My wallet keeps crashing again.. I've changed absolutely nothing except for updating to the latest 0.3.75 version. Error says:
Runaway exception
A fatal error occurred. Namecoin can no longer continue safely and will quit.

EXCEPTION: NSt8ios_base7failureE
CDataStream::read(): end of data
***namecoin-qt.exe in Runaway exception

Edit: deleting blk001.dat and blkindex.dat files in the AppData folder worked. Now I have to wait an eternity to download the blockchain again. >_>
Sorry. It should be about three hours, though.  Is it possible that your drive was full or that you prematurely stopped the rewrite during the first start of the new version?

thank you, my namecoin wallet is ok again, last night i opened namecoin-qt with -rescan in command window and this morning it was there working and I transferred my balance to an online acct, so no more worries, I'll try not to use it again. Smiley

my namecoin wallet on my pc with winxp crash constantly, it not open, in task manager it keeps running more memory and can only stop it with "end process" on my other pc win7 it opens but 142 weeks behind for ever and does not sync, please help. and how can i recover my stored nmc in there? for future i leave my namecoins in pool or let it sent to a trading site for later exchange.
try to rename the Namecoin data directory (users/...~appdata..~roaming..something..else..on..xp.../namecoin) and try to download the blockchain again. Then rename the wallet.dat file and copy your old on into the directory. Then start qt with -rescan option. Should it still give you trouble try gavins bitcointools with fixwallet -notx     Always work on backups.

Similar problem here. Downloaded windows binaries and run the client.

its unresponsive most of the time and crashes on 90% of the action I do on the UI.

The wallet.dat in my case is not empty, i have some coins on it.

Help :| , I cannot even 'backup wallet' from the client, I just did it manually and I don't like it. Moreover I couldn't encrypt it
My recommendation - which is uninformed and should be followed at your own risk - would be to send all your coins to a different wallet on another computer, for instance, close the app, delete all the files including the wallet, restart the app, then send your coins back to the original wallet.

probably it was just the wallet and he didn't need to delete the block chain

I don't know. If anyone is having similar problems, they can try that. For me, it didn't matter really because my wallet was empty anyway. Cheesy

Does NMC have -salvagewallet or -repairwallet ?

That might have done the trick too.

In case anyone finds this thread and wants a solution, snailbrain helped me.
I had to delete all the files in the appdata/roaming/namecoin folder, including the wallet.dat because it was corrupted.
I don't care because I had nothing in the wallet to begin with.
Hope it helps someone else though!

Can anyone help me out here?
I'm trying to download the namecoin wallet (3.72) but it continuously crashes upon opening.
I can get the old (26-Jan-2012 11:14) version to open but all I get is a black box. I let it sit there and nothing ever shows up.
When Windows Firewall pops up, I click allow. I even went so far as to make a separate rule for the Firewall so that it doesn't pop up when I open the namecoin-qt app, since it always crashes before I even have a chance to click accept on the Firewall.
I have Windows 7 SP1, everything is up-to-date. I have no problems with BitCoin and LiteCoin wallet programs; it is only NameCoin that I cannot get to work.
Appreciate it.
