Unless you port forward 8333 or other ports and make Bitcoin Core run through it, you should only see 8 outgoing connections. New nodes will not be added.

It is possible that your peers aren't connected to you well, could you check if you can see the ping of the peers and ensure their block height is higher than yours? Do you have enough HDD space? Could you also post your debug.log? I suspect that your Bitcoin Core blocks got corrupted somehow and you need a reindex.

i know theres a whole ton of posts on this, but most of which i honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about.
if anyone can tone down the lingo a bit to keep up with the snail that would be awesome.

I'v been battling with trying to resurrect my wallet from a crashed computer. downloaded bitcoin core no worries.
Took out the DAT. and replaced with my own. everything is in its place including transactions, Sync untill 18 weeks behind and it just stopped a few days ago, stuck on 366964.
I'v seen many people say put more nodes in, so debug > Console > addnode < ip > add but this never actually adds the node to my node list (peers)

does anyone have any advice, and sorry guys, but keep it simple Wink
Thanks!
