Switching to 2.4.1 did the trick.
It isn't so much the version number... but the actual program you were using.

"Electrum" is a "Bitcoin ONLY" Wallet. However, there are many many "clones" (aka "forks") based on the original Electrum code that have been created for use with various altcoins. Unfortunately, a lot of the developers of these clones have chosen to call their modified program "Electrum-XYZ" where XYZ is the short code for the coin... This often leads to confusion with the original Electrum and people end up downloading the wrong thing and wondering why it isn't working and their coins/history don't show up.

For instance:

- Electrum-LTC is for Litecoin
- ElectronCash is for Bitcoin Cash
- Electrum-VTC is for VertCoin
and... Electrum-XVG is for Verge.

I am now remembering about the version. So I am now running 2.4.1, but I can't get a connection.

tryninja suggested lots of alternative servers and to turn off autoconnect. I am making headway, but no connection.

The other boxes to select are
1. A box that has 50002 in it right now
2. Use SSL
3. Proxy
4. Local host
5. a box with 9050 in it right now.

Trying different combinations but still no connection

I just saw that you said you are using "Electrum 3.0.5". There is no Electrum Verge 3.0.5, so you are probably using the Electrum for Bitcoin.

The latest Verge version is 2.4.1; Go to the website and download the right version.

I have tried several servers and they all connect. When I pick a new server, the ball goes red, then arrows then green. So it appears that is not the problem.

The history should show 2 transactions which it did previously. Now no incoming or outgoing transactions.

All default servers on Electrum verge sucks and won't connect most of the time. If none of them work, try those:

Code:
e1.verge-electrum.com 50003
e2.verge-electrum.com 50002
e3.verge-electrum.com 50002
46.163.118.201 50002
83.169.38.218 50003
electrum-xvg.stream 50002
electrum-xvg.party 50002
electrum-verge.xyz 50002
elec2.verge-blockchain.com 50002
83.169.38.218 50002
electrum-xvg.stream 50001
electrum-verge.xyz 50001
xvg.verge-blockchain.info 50002
94.130.90.213 50002
91.250.119.239 50002
94.130.90.213 50001
electrum-xvg.party 50001
xvg.verge-blockchain.info 50001

Try going to the network dialog screen and uncheck "autoconnect" and select a few different servers to check that's not the issue.

Also, what does the balance bar show at the bottom? Does it say "synchronizing" or 0 (verge).
