Why speculate?

No one knows what will happen. You know no more than myself or my equally clueless wife. All we can do is best guess.

Pretty much this.

It's all speculation. Do whatever you feel.

True, no one knows, but what's more entertaining, sitting in silence while waiting for things to happen, or speculate the posibilities?

You know Nothing, Jon...You know nothing...-Taken from Song of Ice and Fire.

Well speculation is just like a gamble...you use statistics to try and bring down your losses but in the end it is still a gamble and most people kind of get their thrills from it.

Why are you dragging your equally clueless wife in to this?

Why not? Wifes are generally a lot of fun.

Why speculate?

As you're posting this in the Bitcoin speculation subforum, my answer is in that context. I'd say some speculate because it's a gamble, even thrilling if you will, and not because anyone really knows how it will turn out (unless it's someone with a will and a way to significantly manipulate the market). But if you have the btc and the patience for it, you can make some relatively safe returns over time.

Takes patience and discipline to make any decent returns trading short term. Many do not have that.

I am surprised that more people aren't on here whining, maybe I just don't notice them as much?

We speculate because people are curious and they want to guess what will happen.

Speculating is fun, education can give you an advantage not many things can predict a certain outcome when investing.

Well, to be fair, myself does know a lot.  I don't know who knows the most, but it is certainly not me.
