Hashrates you see on Github were obtained by running randomx-becnhmark on a single CPU core (2 threads per core). You can't extrapolate it to all 12 cores of 3900X because you'll hit the RAM bottleneck first. But these tests show what a single CPU core can do when not restricted by RAM. And it wasn't the final version. Final version will have very similar hashrates on Ryzen CPUs, a bit worse hashrates on Intel CPUs and at least ~15% worse hashrates on X5 (if they release new firmware)

As for Intel CPUs, they will get slower (compared to AMD) on RandomX v2 in terms of absolute hashrate. But efficiency (RandomX instructions/J) will be better for both AMD and Intel CPUs. AMD CPUs will execute ~15% more instructions/J, Intel CPUs - around 5-7% more.

The only reason Intel CPUs suck on RandomX is the lack of L3 cache. They still occupy the top 10 in single threaded benchmarks:

People are not talking about mining xmr any more.   XMR mining has been taken over by ASICs.
There were some rumor that XMR is going to modify their mining algo sometime next year...
By the looks of it a lot of ASICs have been moved/introduced on the ZEP network recently.

Currently there is a huge hash power transfer from Monero mining to Zephyr, which is the trendiest CPU coin to mine apparently, as it has also gone 4x in the last week and there is tremendous hype surrounding it, particularly from ex Luna investors who see Zephyr as a better algorithmic version...

I would be curious to find out if people are mining / switching to Zephyr also here, and what's your ideal set up for mining it ?..

Monero mining is still working, but it is not very popular anymore because the price of XMR is not attractive, the price is around $160 and it is still going down, so the Monero mining rewards are not that high.

Modern processors are expensive and mining returns are not attractive, so most miners choose GPU, ASIC mining.

As far as I know you can also mine Monero with GPU-s which gives you better rewards than most CPU-s,excluding EPYC or RYZEN latest generation of course. The same can be said for RTM-Raptoreum,you can point your hash rate toward it with your GPU-s,Wildrig multi miner lets you do it,I personally have switched my GPU rig from ETHW to RTM as I am seeing the devs working a lot lately on this coin and this coin has seen some little increase while with a GPU rig I am making about 150 RTM daily,I only wait for the ATH even if it is the same as last one at 0.084 cent I would be very happy. So lots of choices for people who want something from CPU mining.

A. Privacy coins are needed for regulatory compliance.
Privacy coins and regulatory compliance can not come together in one sentence. Maybe in future when your Governments that have a regulatory framework where they want to poke their noses on anyone's business are abolished, but not today.

B. It's amazing how so many people are sleeping on EPIC. Might be a bit of a learning curve but once you get it you get it. No other coin than EPIC has been more profitable to mine with CPU and GPU since 2019. No, it wasn't a fluke. It is not a scam. It's real and people will wake up very VERY soon.
Don't ridicule, just show people why you think EPIC has been more profitable to mine suing GPU's and GPU's since 2019

There are obviously so many reasons the coin is not popular. The trading volume isn't doing great, too.

A. There is absolutely every reason to expect privacy coins and regulatory compliance to come together in one sentence. We have lawyers and tech experts in our community that get it. Aside from that, constitutional law is actually a thing regardless of how much lawmakers want to ignore it. Zero-Knowledge proofs are an important way for businesses to factually disclose information while maintaining privacy.

B. I've been doing that since I made this thread, plenty of times I've done the calcs: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/epic-epic-private-internet-cash-the-most-profitable-gpu-mining-5335535  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.57380705  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.58109646

And it's not just about all the snapshots in time when EPIC was more profitable to mine. It is also all about the price performance over time. This guy has some great data on that: https://twitter.com/el_mcmurphy

The coin is rising in popularity. BTC took a long time to grow and there are plenty who still won't touch it. EPIC is right on schedule and will surpass all other cryptos.

I'm going to comment here because a few days ago I looked into XMR mining out of curiosity.
I've mined a lot of monero in previous years, I've even bought Ryzen processors just to leave mining in the rig while I mined other coins with the GPU.
My current 5900x I have because of monero.

The attitude of the devs to have an asics-proof algorithm is very good, but unfortunately many hackers use malicious apps to mine XMR, which greatly increases the difficulty of the currency.
Nowadays mining with a single processor is not even worth it, there is no profit.

Once in a while there is a coin that can be mined with a CPU that gives profits, but when we hear about it, it's probably already too late.

I suspect that a huge number o hashrate is from malwares and cloud services mining monero

Anyone here is still mining XMR?

The botnet/malware argument is stale and monolithic in scope. Cryptocurrencies are still a best effort bleeding edge technology 'in the works'.  Ideal is 1 CPU = 1 Vote as Satoshi stated in the BTC whitepaper.

I'll take botnet CPU algorithms where the majority of miners are using gaming rigs (potentially billions of us) over the massive corporatocracy that is the industry of ASIC mining.

A more ideal iteration of Proof of Work would be mineable on mobile phones. Once again, the herd power of billions of mobile phone users would trump narrow examples of malware and the few potential super-clustered warehouse of mobile phones some crazy dude setup.

So much misinformation in this thread.

A. Privacy coins are needed for regulatory compliance. Ever heard of citizen's rights to protection from illegal search and seizure? Jay-Z has. He even raps about it.

B. It's amazing how so many people are sleeping on EPIC. Might be a bit of a learning curve but once you get it you get it. C. Please do some research before posting information for others to consume. Really disappointed in what I'm reading in this thread guys. We can do better. We have to.

Please start by reading "Shelling Out" by Nick Szabo and then we can start to have an intelligent discussion about why we're in crypto and why privacy attributes are absolutely essential to actual cryptocurrencies.

It’s not very profitable to get Monero on video cards now, you don’t even have to try. It is better to mine a profitable coin and then buy Monero. Raptoreum will not be used by companies because POW mining is not suitable for many.

Over the years, privacy coins have become less and less popular in centralized exchanges (some exchanges were even forced to delete them) and their prices didn't really go high up in the last bull run. Most didn't even hit new all-time highs at all, including Monero

Now it's obvious most people saw no point of mining it, if they had to wait all the way through the bear market to bull market with no good profitability like we saw with BTC or ETH.

Coincidentally a post from another thread answers this question. Mining is the only way to obtain crypto while maintaining privacy.

Exactly and just to add to the discussion, now Wildrig has support for mining Raptoreum a CPU mineable coin which can really make a difference in the amount of them you get daily if you redirect your 6 GPU rig for example as a 6 GPU rig with 2060 would do 4000 h/s or a rig with 3060 ti would make over 11.000 h/s and the amount of coins you would be getting in a month a two can really make a difference when the devs of the RTM start implementing the programming languages for smart contract which are better than Ethereum which relies on Solidity,in here they want to go with Python or other well known programming languages which can bring a boom to this coin so better stack up.

For Monero I think we can already mine it with GPU-s too but I don't know how much coins would you get, definitely not as much as RTM which is in the initial stages yet.

Disclaimer:This is just my personal opinion and not forcing anyone to redirect their rigs,I personally did and I am very happy with the results now.

Are people still mining XMR anymore? I don't see somiwn talking about Monero anymore, I would like to know how good the latest Intel CPUs are doing with XMR mining, like the high end i9 series and the AMD Ryzen 9 processors. Any improvement?

The AMD cpu´s doing a better job mining XMR, but in my opinion, it is not worth to mine XMR, you have better alternatives for CPU mining. Dero for example or as i do -> profitswitching on zergpool and let me pay in FLUX or BTC.

Monero miners use this site. I think that you can find a profit calculator on your own.
https://xmrig.com/benchmark
The old problem is that if you buy a processor for mining, then to calculate the payback you need to take into account the cost of not the processor, but the whole computer. And Monero needs a fast memory, because then the hashrate is higher.
