Where did you get such a ridiculous idea?
It's a well-known fact. Also somewhere on this forum u can find a topic made by a guy who buys BTC only to spend them for weed.

Ah, sarcasm, I can't believe I missed that.  I've often said that the internet needs a "sarcasm font".

Despite the time it's been out Bitcoin is still extremely new and experimental, I suspect once we hear the corporate news rant about it some more and see governments attack it then people will gain a lot more interest, I think part of the problem is people have heard this kind of talk before from people and won't believe it's real until they see it in action.

No sarcasm here.

Seriously?

You need to learn the difference between "a well known fact" and "an often repeated rumor".

It is clear now why your "ignore" button is such a dark color.  I'll be clicking on it next.  Thanks for sharing your odd worldview.

Sounds like a confession to what he uses his coins for.

Today, I asked how many of my 15 students attending class that had heard about bitcoins. Not a single person raised their hand!

Bitcoin is mainly used to buy weed. And anyone who knows about this currency is a suspect. What if these students are much smarter than u expect?

Agreed. Next time ask them "Who watches porn?" You should start a campaign for porn immediatly, because nobody will raise his hand!

I highly doubt many Danish students would worry if their teachers found out they were doing weed.

Are you a bear? I like bears. There are too few of you guys in this forum - I just hope you are not following your own financial advice, though. I do not use nor do I need nor deal in drugs but am still interested in bitcoins. The biggest economic problem the last five years (probably longer) has been bad and unpredictable monetary policy. The bitcoin and other crypto currencies will change that. It has close to infinite market potential but I have no idea which currency comes out on top.

I agree with OP, I've only came across a few people who knew about Bitcoin. There is still lots of room for the price to go ballistic. This is just the start.

So I am an assitant teacher for 1st year students in physics at a Danish university. And I consider people studying physics as being much brighter than the average population and many of them are also quite technological capable and know how to program simple algorithms and some know more advanced computer science. Generally, their knowledge in politics and economy is non-existent, though. And many are socialists or social liberals.

Today, I asked how many of my 15 students attending class that had heard about bitcoins. Not a single person raised their hand!

This tells me that the knowledge and thus value of bitcoins is now where near long term equilibrium level. If bitcoins become a serious competitive currency to the government fiat of the world, like many of us believe, then we have a long long way to go in terms of promoting bitcoins and seeing its value rise.
My local newspaper in Malaysia just featured Bitcoin last week. It's about some guy in Canada who's trying to sell his house for Bitcoins.

Technologically capable =/= Knowledgeable about the newest events
