SOB! We should have been on top of this sooner.
There's only one person to blame for this misstep. That person sits in front of his computer all day, sitting on his fat ass and eating Twinkies, yet missed informing us of this. Now, I'm not one to call a person out, but his initials are RF. Some say that RF stands for... But enough of the fat jokes.
Taxing my memory, isn't there a Webby(?) award that's about to start and ends in the later part of January? Maybe if Really Fat isn't too busy, he'll check into this for us.

Why would bitcoin be best of 2011? Wasnt it invented in 2009?
From their site, "NOMINATE the companies, products and people you believe most deserve industry recognition for achievements completed in 2011"
So it's meant for the most impactful things in the year, not necessarily things that just launched. Twitter won Company last year, even though they didn't start in 2010 of course.
