I've used aluminum stock from Lowes with some success. Cuts reasonably well with saber/jigsaw with blade for metal and drillable with most bits.

Just make sure to use static plastic bags under your motherboard and power supply and you are free from worries.

No need to complicate your life and worry about fire-resistance and wood. You can always use a mixture of both wood and aluminum/metals. It can be designed in such a way that the wood is isolated from outside environments that could spread fire. Remember if your rig is catching fire anyway, its most likely dead already, you just need to worry about it spreading.

I am about to build some custom made mining rig frames, and was curious as to what makes for a good non-conductive surface that I can screw stand-offs into.  I was initially wanted to use wood, but would rather use something more fire-resistant Smiley

Why not just use aluminum? Pretty common.
