Good day everyone, I want to keep this question short and simple.

If a project is not active enough on their social media account like Twitter is this a red flag or a reason not to invest in the project.

For me personally, activity on social media is not really an indicator if a crypto project is legit and good or not. I mean just look at what is going on in the crypto space with airdrops and bounties and that stuff. Every shit meme-coin that is created by a single person can easily get 10.000 twitter followers withing a day if they announce an airdrop where you need to follow their twitter account.
So the number of twitter followers does not really mean anything, because we just can not know if a project got those followers because they were interested in the project or because of a stupid airdrop or another competition. You should check for other indicators to evaluate if a project is good or not.

of course.
because if a project that has a social media account like twitter is customer service that has to provide the latest updates on the progress of the project. so that it is clear that the project is really progressing according to the road map that has been written on the white paper or website of the project.
so, if there is a project and has a social media account such as Twitter and there has never been any recent update activity, I think it needs to be avoided

I would answer yes and no

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Customer relations is a very important aspect of a project. If there is little or no activity on social media, which is an vital aspect of communicating with customers.

An inactive social profile could mean no progress going on behind the scenes as projects are meant to announce milestones and achievements on the road map. It could also mean that you would not get prompt help if you have some issues which customer service should help with

this actually a good answer for "YES"

but if the project has active on development and communication in chat app like telegram and discord active maybe the project pretty much alive but social media is big key for project to get more audience

Twitter is full of new projects, and there are countless bounty programs. There are new projects in all fields of the encryption world. What I am more concerned about today is that Ronaldo will issue NFT on Binance Chain. I don’t know Are you interested?

Every project that deals with the public and runs with funds offered by the public should have a means of communication with the fund providers. Social media is one of the cheapest means of keeping the investors abreast with the happening and providing accountability to fund providers. If a project is not doing the needful as it relates to communications whether with social media or whatever medium, then it's a red flag.

Social networks, especially twitter or telegram are almost indispensable for any project, if you do not regularly work on it, how can you exchange and exchange with investors. Investors will not be able to update information about the project, to me it is no different from a dead project if they do not use any social networks as a means of communication.

It's a sign that project could turn into a scam, but just to make sure then you should check for every social media available on that project, maybe they are not that active in Twitter but still answering some questions on telegram for example. Although, still it gives you some red alerts from that inactivity of that one social media.

Otherwise, If the same issues still persist without any answer, then just go away from that projects because it's highly chance to be a scam.
That's mostly where it is going. Those projects that are no longer active on their social media accounts are likely have left it and abandoned it.

They're done and the project's done so don't burn your money buying the project they've got or tokens that it has got.

You're just close to losing your money immediately if you're not careful with those. Just leave them quickly and don't give your time to them if you haven't invested yet to it.

I think it may be a strong reason, but it is not a sufficient reason on its own. If I notice that they are not active enough on their social media accounts after putting together some bad data, I can make my final decision more easily because the public communication level of a project should always be at the best level. From this point of view, we can say that it is an important issue... Also, one of the reasons why Binance delists projects is that the public communication level of the delisted projects is not good enough. Example: https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/da14a6dce7a64283b8d536ca1c97c026

It is possible that they have their own way of handling customers such as on their page.  Professional Company does not entertain their client on social media, they create a platform for that such as customer support that can be found on their own website.  For me using social media such as FB and alikes in entertaining clients isn't attractive and very unprofessional.  Companies that have a budget push their marketing on Tri-Media,  they also hire virtual assistants to do marketing for them such as making calls to possible clients or through email marketing.

Though I am on a borderline in determining whether being not active on social media is a red flag or not.

Yes, it's already a red flag, for me the people behind have abandoned the project already. CEO or whoever in charge of the project should really communicate with their investors, if not then how are this people going to invest their money on a project that has no response?

So it's very important for incoming project to be very active not just from behind, but in front as well. In their social media's, it is very major that everyone is in the loop, road maps and everything and it is being discussed by their CEO to everyone.

In general, when we look at it, it should definitely be active. Because they share news about communication and updates with people there. It is even necessary because people now handle their transactions through social media and use it frequently. However, far eastern projects generally do not remain active on social media. You should also consider this.

Social network as a communication and customer care portal of a project, where developers will make announcements and updates about the development progress of the team as well as a place to listen to the feedback of investors. I think it's extremely important and an integral part of any project. Honestly, no matter how good the project idea is, if they don't have any social media updates, especially Twitter, I'll tend to ignore them.
You are right that social media is a medium for both parties to interact. And usually successful projects also do the same thing, which is a lot of announcements or other things on their social media, either twitter, telegram or others. The more communication the better and it will create a solid community. I've come across projects that aren't really active on their social media and I decided to leave the project. And from that experience, I was saved several times because when I came back, it turned out that the project was really a scam.

Social media becomes a bridge between project owners and investors, the less interaction it will raise big questions about their seriousness in working on the project. We have seen a lot that a successful project cannot be separated from the community that is built, the bigger the community, the higher the success rate of the project. If the owner rarely or never makes announcements or anything like that about the project they are working on then it indicates that they are not serious about building it.
So the conclusion is that it is a yellow light for us to be more careful or even shy away from the project.

Yes, that's a red flag. How they can't be active on their social media channels if they're working on a project to at least give their investors an update on what happens to the project?
I wouldn't invest in those projects that no longer converse with their community. Well, some may say that bitcoin doesn't have official and actual control over its social media and it doesn't have it. Well, it's a different and special case for everybody.

It depends, people are terrible at few things and social media regular updates is one of them.

There are big crypto projects today that hardy update investors on their channel for example telegram, which is still one of the fastest ways to keep your investors in check.

There are some crypto projects that always keep the public informed and always update their followers but everything they build is based on HYPE.

If I am in your shoe I would focus more on the project use case than the developers keeping me updated everytime, there is a different between a project that delivers and a project that only talk and talk, fake promises.

Coins that have been recently launched and not having a social media activity does come as a red flag. This is not bitcoin where almost everyone knows about it on crypto but a new project that needs to become popular in some time.

A sudden change in activity does show that the development may have slowed down or ther may have been other problems in their office.

There are projects that may be more active on a specific social network and not all, so keep that in mind as well, like telegram is very common.

Depends.

Not all projects use the social media actively but no matter how good the project is, if the management/devs can't spread the word out then it is no good for the investors. So, eventually the project will need to promote their project on the social media, hire shills, do giveaways, create sig camps etc. If they don't do that, the project will die off. There are so many good ideas wasted away like this. Even bitcoin wasn't so popular during its first years.

Customer services is very important in any business either social media or not, this gives the customers trust to rely on the company incase there is a problem also for easy contact. When the company does not have active account for easy contact or to show customers they are always available, this might bring in poor progress in the business since customers will see them as scam.

Customer loves satisfaction and when such is not achieved the customer will complain, when the company can not be contacted on their social media site it make customer loose hope in that company because it shows that the company is not reliable enough. If it is weekly updates the company should do that in other to show their availability and consistency.

Not sure if you're referring to cryptocurrency coin/token projects or bitcoin related projects(wallets, etc), but regardless: it kinda is. Not that their social media accounts needs to be fully active with a dozen posts every day, but at the very least they should have news/updates every few days.
