The most secure and user-friendly online wallet and exchange right now is Coinbase.com, according to my observation.  It is easy to buy and sell at Coinbase and they are secure.

I want to purchase something from a website that only accepts bitcoins. I signed up with btc-e.com but they don't accept credit cards. Is there a place online where I can purchase a bit coin with a credit card or something?

I would say Localbitcoins.com aswell. Its actually really fast depending on the sellers.

Depending on where you live you might find someone local that will meet you in a coffee shop and sell you Bitcoins for cash.  It is the best (fastest) way to get a small to medium sized amount.

Try:  https://localbitcoins.com
