North Korea's foreign ministry "strongly demanded" on Saturday that Japan pay compensation for a fishing boat that sank when it collided with a Japanese patrol boat earlier this week, North Korean state news agency KCNA reported.
The collision on Monday was deliberate and "a gangster act" by Japan and Tokyo should take steps to prevent future incidents, a spokesman for the foreign ministry said in a statement carried by KCNA.
The Japanese coast guard said on Monday it rescued about 60 North Korean crew members from a fishing boat that sank after it collided with the patrol boat that was chasing it out of Japanese waters.

I bet those fishermen the Japanese coast guard picked off the water are now afraid to go back home. I don't think Japan will ever pay the North Korean government, not even if the Japanese coast guard is partly to blame for the collision. It's in their EEZ. And no one except China likes giving North Korea money.

I think that they sank their boat on purpose in order to be on Japanese waters and get rescued.
They probably thought that they can state at Japan after that by I am afraid that they are going to face fatal consequences for trying to leave the country this way.

From the Washington post:

“ The North Korean vessel made an unauthorized entry into Japan’s exclusive economic zone, Fisheries Agency official Satoshi Kuwahara told reporters. He said the two ships collided as the Japanese patrol boat was warning the North Korean vessel to leave.”

It seems like North Korea is at fault, so I doubt they will see a dime.   Japan will be releasing the video soon.

And here they area calling it as a "gangster act." Too much drama is given rather than reviewing the facts. People who are tend to be viewed in a bad light tend to draw the "drama card" since they knew the facts would reveal how wrongly they are. Plus those missiles, how about they land it in their territorial waters jeez (just kidding).

But seriously, a country like Japan with both military and economic powers backing them up should not bow down if they knew the facts and are in the right side. How I remember a certain country in SEA contending their claim who are way over their territories by using their military and economic powers as intimidation. Of course this is another topic and I am just using this an analogy.

North Korea's foreign ministry "strongly demanded"

North Korea are all bluster and macho posturing. Not dissimilar to Donald Trump, really.

Anything they request is "strongly demanded", they've never "politely requested" or "patiently negotiated" a thing - at least not publicly.

Just take what they say with a pinch of salt. It is a failing country that is entirely dependent on Chinese handouts. All they have is threats.

This is totally not okay behavior on the part of the Japanese.

The core issue is "excessive use of force."

I do think they should pay for the boat. Think about it.

they should be thankful that the Japanese coast guard rescued the 60 North Korean crewmen when they entered the Japanese territory illegally. Philippines had a similar incident with the Chinese but
the difference is the Chinese vessel illegally entered the Philippine territory and they intentionally sank a fishing vessel and left the fishing vessel crewmen to die. fortunately the crewmen were rescued
by the Philippine navy.

I have to ask for two things here. Thanks in advance.

1. Why in gods name do you make those weird space after you post something? Is there a reason for that?
2. Could you link this story? Very interested on reading about it.

1. not sure how it happened but it became a habit of mine and It would not probably stop  Grin
2. here is a list of article regarding the issue 1,2,3,4(there are more aritcle about this issue not just these four articles). also I made an error it was a Vietnamese vessel who saved the stranded fisherman
not the Philippine navy.

1. Hehe. That's fine, was just curious on if it was done for a reason.

2. Thanks for the article, I appreciate it. Will read up on it and just edit this post with what I think from there.

I without a doubt support this.

People are going to have and commented that this is 'fake news' due to the fact that a US related company is reporting on it. But where do you think people are getting the information on this being 'fake news' -- North Korean news agencies.

If we're going to compare how reputable these two news agencies are side by side.

North Korean news agencies -- LITERAL PROPAGANDA OF THE NORTH KOREAN STATE WHICH KILLS PEOPLE THAT DONT SUPPORT THEM
Washington post - A news agency with a bias to US and liberal bias.

I think we can see who the winner is here guys come on.

This petty act by North Korea proves that they are badly in need of some cash, if only they could keep their ego aside and stop nuclear programs then the world would be happy to help them with additional funds. After reading the entire article it’s clear that the North Korean ship was trespassing in Japan’s water, hence Japan is not liable to pay them any money.

Badly need in cash? If you do tend to look up on their ranking here https://www.focus-economics.com/blog/richest-countries-in-the-world I dont see for them
to need up some cash.

They have done such bad decision on here because if a vessel do trespass in on other countries waters then its already a violation and if japan do make out some
warnings but they havent listen then sinking their ship was just right and they dont have the right to sue them out.

What proof do they have that the Japanese had anything to do with the boat sinking? Have you seen the state NK fishing boats are in and the state of the crews? These people sail hungry and tired and their boats are wrecks that often sink by themselves taking their crews to the bottom.
What could be the value of such boat?

We are only relying on reports, but if its true then North Korea is at fault. No explanation needed because both country has their own laws. A warning  has been made by Japanese patrol, so its clear. If they have agreement to allow to roam their neighbors on their economic zone, then they have no problem now.

just notice, Japans Fisheries Agnecy Offcial has same name with Satoshi Nakamoto.  Wink
