wow, fascinating. nuclears can be used any time, they're really preparing for the war, huh?
I wonder why these people like doing kind of war. even they will get advantages, disadvantages will be more than the advantages.

and what's going on when there's no attack? the nuclears will be useless. why don't use the money to do something better?

It is a matter of survival for the North Koreans and Kim Jong Un. If they were not threatening to nuke South Korea, Japan (and possibly Hawaii and Taiwan as well), then they would have been invaded by NATO already. Remember what happened to Iraq and Libya, who didn't had the capability to manufacture nuclear weapons.

Lol... you really think that Kim is an idiot? I disagree with you. In my opinion, he is one of the most intelligent guys out there at the moment. Why the Americans are not attacking DPRK, despite repeated provocations from the latter? They are worried that the DPRK will retaliate by nuking South Korea or Japan, thereby causing millions of deaths. The Americans are completely helpless here. 

He's not going to use nukes, he's not that stupid IMO. He's just playing a cool guy for all people of North Korea to see how cool he is. He doesn't want to destroy te Western world, he was studying at Switzerland when he was a kid and most likely he wants his kids also study in Europe. All that crap he says aims only on poor people of his country.

Only a fool would brag about using nukes as "preemptive weapons." Does North Korea not realize that any country attacked would obliterate his country?

South Korea has determined that North Korea is capable of mounting a nuclear warhead on its medium-range Rodong ballistic missile, which could reach all of South Korea and most of Japan, a senior government official said on Tuesday.

The government’s assessment, shared in a background briefing with foreign news media representatives in Seoul, followed a recent claim by North Korea that it had “standardized” nuclear warheads small enough to be carried by ballistic missiles. South Korean officials, like their American counterparts, have said that the North has made progress in miniaturizing nuclear warheads, but have been reluctant to elaborate.

But after four recent nuclear tests by the North, the latest on Jan. 6, some nongovernmental analysts in South Korea have said that they believe the North has learned how to fit its medium-range Rodong missile with nuclear warheads. The senior government official echoed that assessment, but did not provide any evidence of how the government has made its determination.

He did not say if the North had actually built such a warhead or simply had the technology to do so, but said the government did not have any evidence that the North had actually fitted miniaturized warheads onto a missile.

These threats do not concern me. If he decided to attack, he will have no supporters, because he has no reason for war.

From a practical perspective, China is North Koreas ally. A war will not be started unless a war with China is on the menu.

This is exactly why I said that you are under-estimating the military power of the DPRK. Unlike the Iraqi forces under Saddam, the Korean People's Army is not equipped with obsolete and inaccurate weapons. Their military technology is very advanced, and they have developed some of the best weapons (outside the superpowers) available in Asia. And they have sold them to various terrorist groups and dictatorships in exchange for funds. The annual military budget is around $6 billion, which is almost 10 times that of the Iraqi forces under Saddam.

The US not only has nothing to gain by attacking them, but we are fighting in to many other countries right now.  We are spread too thin.

Of course nobody invades them. What are the financial gains?    War is never about morality or good cause.

Outsiders are under-estimating the military power of the DPRK. They are having an active military strength of at least 700,000 (some claim 1.2 million) soldiers, plus some 3.5 million reservists. Their ballistic missiles can reach up to Taiwan, Alaska and Hawaii. In addition to all this, they are in the possession of an unknown number of nuclear weapons.

South Korea is a baloon blown up by China and Russia. It is a closed box and it may collapse like Soviet Union.

I don't worry so much about Kim Jong-un and N. Korea.
Kim Jong-un is well aware about his own situation and limitations and using nuclear weapons as tactics to scare neighbors and to receive more support and help from international community for his country.
His country urgently need economic and humanitarian aid.
Nuclear weapons are also means to get more respect in his own country.
It's all politic and strategic game, nothing else.
He will never attack anybody, and everybody know it.

North Korea might not be having huge deposits of crude oil and natural gas, but they are blessed with trillions of USD worth of rare earth metal deposits (including Cerium, Europium, and Gadolinium). Right now, China is having complete monopoly over the rare earth production, and this is causing problems for the manufacturing units in the United States and Japan. If these deposits can be acquired by the American corporations, then they will be able to make good amounts of profit.

That little guy just doesn't know when to quit. Still no one is invading North Korea. The US isn't there to "free" the people. Maybe they do not have enough oil or natural resources in order for them to qualify for freedom.

Knowing the Americans really well, they wouldn't really care if the DPRK nukes either South Korea or Japan (as long as the radiation fallout stays clear of the American military bases). The South Koreans and the Japanese are just cannon fodder for the Americans (just like the Europeans and Turks, who are cannon fodder for a war against Russia). Kim also regards his citizens as cannon fodder.

He´s only a real threat to U.S. vassals in the area which helps keep them obedient. The absolutely last thing the U.S. govt. wants is to destroy that cozy arrangement and so they´ll keep  barking occasionally like they´ve done forever and leave it at that.

He has the ability to launch a nuclear weapon. But he won't be able to target the mainland United States, as the most advanced of the North Korean ballistic missiles (Taepodong-2) are having a range of only around 6,000 km. North Korea might be able to launch a nuclear attack upon Honolulu or Anchorage, but cities such as Portland, Seattle, LA and SF are going to be safe under any scenario.

How the world leaders are going to stop the "madness"? Invading North Korea is out of question, as they are having an active military strength of at least 700,000, in addition to some 3,500,000 reserve forces. Also, invading the DPRK won't be as easy as the past invasions of Iraq and Libya. The Korean People's Army is a much better fighting force, when compared to those in the other third world nations.

I have doubts about his ability to launch a nuclear weapon.  However, he is crazy and if he does have the ability to do it, I think he would push the button if he got desperate enough.

Kim Jong-un maybe still dont have enough firepower to threaten USA or any country outside that region but some day he will have it if something dont happen. the dprk is not an aggressor. every threat it issues is in the context of "if we are attacked we will retaliate" and is always in response to some external provocation. kim jong un has offered disarmament in return for a jewmerican withdrawal and permanent peace treaty but the enemy refuses to negotiate with him as an equal.

Both are aggressors. The fact that United States is pure evil doesn't hide the truth that Kim Jong Un is even worse. He must treat his citizens like human beings. That said, if the DPRK didn't had any of these nukes and ballistic missiles, then the Americans would have implemented their version of the "forced regime change" there.

Even if Kim Jong Un want to destroy the world, he is not capable of doing it. The North Korean ballistic missiles are having limited range, and they are not capable of targeting regions outside the Asia-Pacific region. But still, this is very bad news for South Korea and Japan (and probably for Taiwan and Hawaii as well).
