We need Seth Macfarlane to do some Kim impersonations in a new film to make him even more mad.
I think the new film will be about Russia. Have you heard Scorpions song "Wind Of Change" in the end?  Wink

It's worth the Netflix watch  Cheesy but paying $11 at a theatre would have sucked

Tell me about it! I saw this morning that it is on Netflix now. I could have saved a few bucks if I had known that ahead of time.

My wife and I went to see that movie recently. I thought it was very funny, for what it was. We got plenty of laughs out of it. Rogan and Franco are definitely no Laurel and Hardy, but they have good chemistry together on screen.
It doesn't take much to anger the man-child Kim, so it should be no surprise that he was upset about this, especially since the movie did in fact have some truth to it as far as just how miserable the North Korean people are in general and how strong the State-run propaganda machine is as far as trying to convince the NK people and the rest of the world that everything is awesome in NK.

Wait, so it's North Korea behind the hack again now? Swear I read a leak somewhere stating it was just a bunch of random hackers and the US were blaming North Korea in the media so they can see how far they can go with imposing sanctions on the internet OUTSIDE of the US. Anything that comes from the US of this nature, take it with a pinch of salt - they're full of shit.

Obama imposes new sanctions against North Korea in response to Sony hack

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jan/02/obama-imposes-sanctions-north-korea-sony-hack-the-interview

<< US president signs executive order leveling targeted sanctions against North Korean officials after cyber-attack on Sony Pictures. >>

This is the bigger issue here. Why does the US impose sanctions on NK for someone in that country allegedly hacking the website of an avg company???

This is huge news IMHO and the American public should be more outraged by the gross misuse of political power to protect a random company.

I dont want my tax dollars being used to protect the financial well being of any company.
I know companies are "people" too nowadays (sarcasm fully meant) but this is completely unbelievable...

Might be worse than that. I've heard speculation the involvement might be because of the court case against Sony. Would they be able to dismiss the case by claiming the hack was the action of a state? Outside their control basically.

North Korea is so isolated by state censorship, and only a handful of high level officials can have any very limited access to Internet that I don't see why Kim doesn't just tell his people that they already went to war with the USA and won. Who would know the difference?
What I really believe is that the whole thing is a sham. Guerrilla marketing in effort to save a fail movie.
NK wants to be respected outside of their country. The NK government does often tell these kinds of lies to their people and (at least according to the interview) they often believe it

So North Korea promised another "9-11" if this movie was shown.

Did they do anything at all?
Nope (besides the original sony hack). Although to be fair there was not a lot they could do. The theaters that showed the film were very small and any terrorist attack would likely have little impact on america. I also imagine that overall security was increased which would decrease the likelyhood that any such attack would be successful

isn't it obvious already that they never carry out their threats? with the whole world against them, I'd be surprised if they do.

you think? someone in south africa buys a sweater with bitcoin - he has to pay us gov for the privilege? now i'm from new york ... what's the difference? for both of us the btc lives on the blockchain ...

i think the only way the fed can tax btc is when you trade it for fiat then deposit said currency into a bank account. at that you have created 'income', which the fed has been illegally taxing for some time. though it could be argued that you had to work to acquire the bitcoin, and work some more to trade it, therefore it is not 'income', rather 'trade', which is not taxable, but then they've convinced ppl that it is income because you've recieved something. you did recieve something, but you traded your time and effort, leaving a balanced equasion, not taxable 'income'. interest on a bank account is taxable income, so are tips and gifts. (under rule of law, that is) 'they' try to convince us that 'they' represent rule of law, it is one of their biggest lies.

I do not understand why people think that spending bitcoin somehow magically causes the fed and the military to somehow become weaker

Yep I saw that news item, I'm still not convinced in the slightest that it's actually North Korea, simply because like with Iran the west is spoiling for a fight and looking for a legitimate excuse to invade them.
DPRK is a chinese protectorate, so let them try.

Yeah but as we know from Snowden's leaks even the Chinese are getting tired of North Korea's bullshit.
This could potentially be the turning point for the Chinese for them to stop supporting NK

The scary thing is, if we could have done something about North Korea, we would have done it long ago.

The comfort lies in the fact that if they could have done something about us, they would have done it long ago.

Smiley
With the release of the interview, which essentially makes fun of Kim (which is very offense to NK) gives them an additional incentive to want to do something to the US/west.

The reason why the west is unable to do anything to NK is because China supports the NK government because they do not want western influence in the Korean Peninsula. If NK were to do something reckless, like say attempt a terrorist attack, then it could potentially be facing an invasion/attack from it's north border

I think holding off on the release does make somewhat sense for sony. Most of the major theater chains decided not to show the interview so they don't even stand to make very much by releasing it even if the theaters that do show it sell out off of their showings.

Plus the threat of terrorism is likely going to prevent other moviegoers from wanting to go to the movies at all as any terrorist attack would likely affect people in the entire building not a specific theater that the interview is playing in so sony's other releases will be negatively affected.

Funny, they threatened the USA........

SETH ROGEN IS CANADIAN!

lol.. He threatened the producers of the movie, and not the actors. James Weaver is from the US, right? Also Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are Jewish. Kim should threaten to destroy Israel as well.

that would make iran very happy.

Well they already are on cordial terms with each other
Even North Korea keeps some relations with other countries lol.

I fully believe that Kim Jong-Un and his family have been a murderous catastrophe for the North Korean people, but it doesn't help that most of the attention it receives from the international community is made-up stories (the haircut, the flamethrower executions, feeding uncle to dogs etc.) that allow us to see the whole country as a slapstick, madcap bit of Bond villainy rather than the deliberate throttling of tens of millions of people.

Indeed, that said the news article that South Korean will send DVDS over to North Korea of this movie without DVD players or food or electricity made me facepalm.
While I do not doubt that there are many atrocities in the DPRK and that it is widespread, I also can't fully trust propaganda based news without facts like the uncles to dogs thing etc.
It's a matter of whose information you can trust unfortunately with a black box you can smear whatever you want on it and well it might stick because their is no way to fact check.

North Korea threatens "merciless" response over Seth Rogen film

<< Country wants film about attempt to assassinate Kim Jong-un banned and says failure to stop its release will be "act of war". >>

I would love to see their response... They can't reach the US and even if they could they are not suicidal. Even at the peak of the cold war, when the USSR and the US had over a combined 50,000 nuclear weapons, no one dared attack knowing a first strike would not go without response.
Now we get this bed wetter who thinks his handful of nukes, which he can hardly deliver, are some kind of threat... The worst he could do is invade South Korea, or attack Japan, at which point his rule, and possibly the lives of most of his citizens, will come to a swift end.

Having seen the trailer, it hardly looks like blockbuster material... But now that DPRK has stepped in with free publicity, it might get some success after all.

I think that the media purposely makes it more 'exiting', after all, it's a good distraction from national problems.
Some stories are probably real, but both sides aren't showing what's really going on. Interestingly enough NK missles hit SK before, is  the SK radar / military technology not that advanced.. or is there another reason why they were not destroyed?

We all know NK is China's crazy uncle.  It gets out all the crazy talking points and threats through NK.  Rock and a hard place, China being the rock.  Things will continue status qou with Elmer Fudd until China changes it's mind.

He probably would launch a few missiles to the sea. Or maybe try a new nuclear testing. Kim is not that dumb, Kim is the puppet of the party he will be killed if he don't follow them.

Wrong, Kim and his family are in control of his party, it's the Chinese who pull the strings, why do you think the Americans can't touch him?

Do you know why Little Kim killed his Uncle and his uncle supporters? It is because he is a Chinese stooge. Do you why America didn't conquer North Korea? Because they have a nuclear deterrent, It means South Korea's destruction. And the reward is very minimal because North Korea is very poor and don't have oil.

The cult of character assassination...

(Given they apparently thought the Onion's 'World's Sexiest Man' article was true, and pass off any fictions as truth that they see fit, perhaps they're actually worried about being bumped off in 90 minutes + credits, all for a laugh.)

failure to stop its release will be "act of war".

Is he going to launch a nuclear war, just because someone mocked him in a movie? I was thinking that Kim Jong-il was the craziest head of nation in the recorded history. Now there is a new claimant to that title.

This makes me want to see it more. The scary thing is that this psychopath has a limited stockpile of atomic weapons. That is one country where a coupe might actually be good news.

North Korea is always talking about war, but China would not allow it. They have financial interest in both the South and the North. In addition, I think Kim is not stupid - he just uses these claims to seem powerful to the citizens.  There's simply no way, at present, that north korea would take over the US.

Let the sociopath rant all he wants to. He's a spoiled child who throws a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way. Wake up, Kimmy boy! No one cares about you! Now, go back to supressing your people, and stop trying to play with the grown-ups.

The bigger picture here is that he knows that it will become popular on some level (not saying it'll be Top Gun) and it will find its way into South Korean society. In turn, things that become popular in the South are usually smuggled North and passed around on the underground and it becomes a quiet frenzy for Northerners to get their hands on trendy things from below. This is damn near the ultimate crime against the state in the North to view such content and plant the unthinkable seed in an already unstable situation. Believe it or not, it's the youngsters of the Party elites and cadres that get their hands on these trendy things from the South since they have the most access and funds to do so and this is why it's of grave concern. Kim and his propaganda department have worked these youngsters over all of their lives w/ nonsense and one forbidden trendy flick from the South could undermine that in a large way.

Raise your hand if you're tired of that fat kid talking like a tough guy. I bet a few hands would go up in the DPRK also. In fact if you ever wanted to send him a birthday card this would be a good time. I doubt moon face has many left.

What's he going to do, come over here and piss on the White House lawn? It's like a mouse sneaking up close to a sleeping lion and squeaking in his ear. He might wake up just enough to inhale the nuisance.
