I've experienced it when I designing a thread in the "archive" section. I accidentally left my PC for several hours in "edit message" mode. then I posted it and I was shocked when my post became a new thread/topic. Exactly, in the "archive" section, I can't delete the thread, so I search for a section that is very rare for the visitors and available for deleting the thread, then I move my thread (more precisely in the local "buy and sell" section) and delete it immediately. I succeeded. Cheesy

Hope it helps your problem.

Good to know, thanks. Do you have the official link about this please ? I really never hear about it (also never needed but who know..)

This is why it's important to always go through the forum system and how it works.

You can only delete your reply but can't delete your post but alternatively you can move the post you want deleted

There's no way you're deleting your topic on this Board, I'm sorry. I had a similar situation. Just change the theme name to"DELETE".

I think that the major reason why it's impossible to delete a thread after the 24hr period on some spefic boards is due to the fact that every thread is preceeded with numerous comments, thus allowing users the power to delete threads, they could abuse that privilege, deleting posts at will and get people's comments trashed as well
So that more reason why it's in the hands of the moderators to trash threads and they only do so when the thread is completely useless

This is indeed the case, I have encountered it several times. The final solution is to modify the post content.

IT SAID ME "You cannot delete your own topics in this board."
PLEASE HELP OUT
That means you tried to delete your own topic (not reply). You can't do it if someones already read your topic. You can see right side on your topic title how many peoples already read. Like your post (Read 148 times) till now. So if there is zero (0) then you can delete your post. Even one user read your post you will not be able delete it ever. But you can edit it always, if you feel you made topic by mistake then go edit and just delete all content including subject. Then just write "Deleted" and move thread on Archival from lower left. Same as about reply, just edit it and reply could delete after 24 hours (few boards).

Editing probably looks like the only option to me, but editing it to what?,I have actually come across a thread that was edited and left blank or a single word put, and straight up it looked suspicious to me, could it have been a plagiarised text that the OP thought wise to edit and leave blank?

So in order words is it actually a problem editing a text and leaving it blank and can it land a user into trouble on the forum

Deleting own topics would be very useful if no more than one page is written. That would prevent some topics created by accident, I created a topic a few days ago but noticed I can't add a poll because poll is a totally new feature. My first topic ended abandoned because I can't delete it and it was necessary to create a new poll. If I was able to delete my first topic it would help to make boards less spammy.

Edit your post if you have posted something you do not like it or conveys some unwanted message or if you have change your mind rather than deleting it. But, if you wish to lessen the number of your posts history and you like to delete the posts you have then the posts you started will not be deleted. It will remain and only the moderator can do it for you. You can ask them to delete your posts started but in your case some of the Modz are set not to receive message from newbie.

You cannot delete your own topics as you would also then delete any replies that are present, and other people's replies are not yours to delete. If you really want, edit the title and content to "Deleted" or something similar, move the topic to the archival board and lock it.

Looking on your last topic created history, this thread is the only one available, was it already removed?

The next time you wanted your topic to be deleted, try moving it to archive section and report it to mod for deletion. I reported some of my topic for deletion a long time ago and they're gone.

I know a friend who also experienced the same situation where he can't delete his post. I think the post is months older I think, he tried clicking button but can't delete successfully. About this one, will the mods able to delete it or the admin only can delete the post? This is about the post(quote or reply).

<…> my post has been more than a week. So i can only edit and not delete.
Well since the only topic you have started is this one, I figure you are really talking about a post and not a topic (unless it has already been trashed by a moderator, but I did not see it in the modlog).
If it is post, and you cannot delete it, you can always edit the content a place a more suitable one. If it is a topic you are on about, you can move it to another section such as off-topic archival, lock it, and let it wither away there.

P.D. You may want to review some of those "great concept" or similar posts you have in your history, and consider creating better content …

There are some boards that allows the deleting of topic while some boards do not allow. So am guessing where you made your topic does not allow the deleting of topics you started. But it's surprising that with your active count you are just experiencing this

What are you trying to delete?

I would say it's probably because of this:
I think how I'd prefer to handle it is to prevent deleting posts within 24 hours of posting them, in the problematic sections only. Which sections are problematic?
OK, the 24-hour limit is now in place in the sections that people mentioned.

Are you trying to delete a post on the Altcoin Board in the first 24 hours you posted it? Or are you trying to delete your thread? In this case, it isn't possible anyway.

my post has been more than a week. So i can only edit and not delete.

It depends on where the thread is posted if it's on one of the altcoin boards there's no way to delete it. I tried deleting a month old thread that I started in the altcoin section and the delete button didn't work. The only thing you can do is to edit the contents of the thread and move it somewhere else so nobody can see it or ask someone to report the thread so the mods can move it to the trashcan..

but it creates a negative impact on us if mods move our post to trashcan
